Purely idle specualtion based on scenes like this today at a UK supermarket. One doesn't need to be an infectious disease expert to understand that the virus is spread through close human interaction and seeing people in the UK and the US still herding to get their pasta and toilet rolls leads to a very obvious conclusion.

Some shoppers were queuing from 5am amid concerns over further panic buying.

It was a rhetorical question

What is surprising according to the following website  https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ is the the total of cases to date per 1 million population as follows..............

Total cases per 1million population
Italy.........................978
Switzerland............864
Spain.....................612
Germany...............297
France..................245
Netherlands..........245
Porugal.................157
UK.........................84

Which i am surprised considering we have a 65 million pop. on this tiny island. Having said that it's still early days and no doubt it will rise.

So we are doing something right unless we are being very lucky so far?

i think the virus started rise in uk more later than the most infected countries (italy, spain etc...) so i think you will join the club soon don't worry 😁

we have a island in France named "CORSE" and she is very infected too

I wish you that it won't get that bad. I wish every country to recover quickly from it. We all must stand together by not being so close now. Quite the irony, huh 😉👍

When you look at the numbers of Germany don't be surprised by not seeing many recovered persons. The only on listed there are the ones treated in hospital. The ones at home there is no duty here to report when you are well again. You just stay quarantined at home two weeks and after it it's okay again. So the numbers of recovered persons for Germany will always stay very low

Yep so right just wish someone had a magic wand eh but the best we can hope for now is people behave responsible which judging from the idiots on the beaches today over here ain't gonna happen very quickly. Rather sad eh.?

Yes.. but only in the middle of this week.. Friends i have there told me that only this friday their kids schools get closed. Guess the escalating of the numbers made them changed their tactics

Because many here aren't adhering the the guidelines, a reckon we'll have total lock down in the next day or 2...

Whatever any one does there will always be ones who think they know better. Many think closing schools is the best thing, maybe but then you have all the kids running everywhere possibly making it worse. Whether it be the right action or not others will always try to find fault. Schools are closed in europe but the figures are still going sky high. Until there is a proven vaccine it will just continue to get worse I fear.

We don't know what, at this stage, is the best policy...Btw, children of KEY workers...and the list is pretty long, are still going to school next week...

Seems the USA will soon take "first place"... Very bad.

Live statistics and coronavirus news tracking the number of confirmed cases, recovered patients, and death toll by country due to the COVID 19 coronavirus from Wuhan, China. Coronavirus counter with new cases...

It is not how many total cases or deaths (of course that is important) , but look at the total cases per 1M in population and also one could calculate the total deaths per 1M --overall the US is still

a very low number in comparison to other countries.
