moules Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I admit to not being familiar with air conditioners that have remote controls. (My house has central air conditioning, and it is not zoned with a thermostat for each room. The amount of air delivered to each room is controlled by the size of the duct. Central air conditioning means I have a separate external compressor that chills the air,, and an internal air handler that distributes the chilled air using ducts. ) Looking at Amazon, I see what types of air conditioners have remote controls. Small, portable ones. And I see why these probably are not used in certain climates. Central air conditioners and window air conditioners de-humidify, and the water extracted from the air has to go somewhere. I don't see an A/C in the LR of B-1, but perhaps I don't know what I am looking for.

They will be wall mounted units like these, commonly used in Europe, The remotes control the temp and airflow through the flaps that can be opened and closed, some units also have built in heater elements for winter use. Cam 20 shows two flat-faced squares in the far wall behind the clothes drying on the line. I have no idea if these are related to an A/C, or how they would work if they did 1

Air units used in Europe housing is the same as what you would see or find in American office building board rooms or small to mid sized convention rooms. Mounted on the wall close to the ceiling so the cold air drops onto the people to chill their fat sweaty asses off. Most of Europes climate does not require the need or purpose of central air. Frank You are correct on the LR placement of said unit in B1. And Yes each bedroom has its own seperate unit. 2
Captain Kangaroo Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Biggesdt problem with these people is they turn the units on and open the F ing windows!!! Thats NOT how AC works and NEVER WILL work correctly!! 1 2

(Random Photo from the Tinterweb) Here is a similar model on Amazon Amazon.com WWW.AMAZON.COM As I read the Amazon specs, this interior wall-mounted unit also requires an external unit. this is called a split system. I don't see the external unit on the B-1 balcony.

(its partially hidden by RLC overlay for the apartment time).
Noldus Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 In the Nordic countries we call this a heat pump 🙂 We use them to heat houses and apartments in the winter. (Can also be used as AC in the summer) After it was banned to use oil for heating (with radiators and water-based heating), several houses have switched to large heat pumps (drilled for ground to water or air to water, for the radiators). 1
Maxbell Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Late to this convo My experience is in Canada, but complexes with AC, isn't it part of the apartments utilities, so a compressor etc, is in one central location? Usually on the roof and not in each unit. Hot water is done this way except its probably in the basement. Of course if the AC units like HotWivesRocks screenshot, are used then I am wrong. Where does the heat extracted go on these ones in the screenshot? Portable AC units need a vent tube blowing hot air outside.
