Yes, you missed Donald Trump who in his latest version of why he fired Comey admitted to obstruction of justice, an impeachable offense.

if that were the case , but hard to prove. The articles of impeachment against Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton both included obstruction of justice.

Richard Nixon, as you know resigned,.. Bill Clinton remained President  because he had a Democratically controlled Congress.

Now Trump has a Republican controlled Congress.  End of story.  Trump will remain President as did Clinton.

It is interesting to see that we have all kinds of specialists and insiders on this voyeur site. We have had experts in U.S. politics, world politics, climate change and other environmental issues, and now on this site we can learn about the real life in the FBI - what has happened there and what should have happened. Great! I no more need to follow the traditional media, only the posts on CC!

We do have a diverse group of folks here, Kalevipoeg. That includes you. I suppose it shows we also do other things besides watch naked girls paint each other. However, don't give up watching your favorite news sources, they are what give us our topics for discussion.

BTW, Ben Shapiro made a good point at the Q & A portion of one of his speeches. He prefers the liberal-lefties to get in line first because it is far more fun to discuss things with them than the ones who already agree with him. This is why I try to avoid name calling (although I am still guilty from time to time); you can't exchange ideas if you are busy denigrating your opponent. I've even learned a few things from you even if I disagree with some of your politics.

I think it may be a little early to tell about Trump. He doesn't have the favor of all the Republican Party. I think most are distrusting of political outsiders; especially those they can't control. In my opinion he shook things up that needed shaking. We shall see how he matures as the leader of the free world. He definitely got the attention of the world and I am waiting to see what he does with it. I think he needs to stop watching the news and go investigate for himself.

Where in the world do you get your information ? He most certainly did not.....You are so full of it... Comey was a complete failure as an FBI director and both the Dems and Republicans were calling for his head... come on EAGLE get real will you ???

I thought I should point out that the dems and reps wanted him gone for two separate reasons. The Democrats wanted him gone because he was investigating Mrs Clinton and ex-prez Obama; not because he was incompetent. Trump fired him because he closed the case on Hilary, which he shouldn't have, and hadn't closed the case on Trump, and should have because of all the problems it causes with the uninformed rabble. But more than that he was waffling terribly at the congressional hearing and Trump has no tolerance for that; which I agree with.

Watcher, I thought the only word, you knew, was naughty. Excellent post from everyone, thank you for sharing needed information. He's got my attention, that is one reason, I have not been around, business is booming, and I am happy to say, I am engaged to be married. Comey was a RAT, even Obama, warned President Trump about him. The president needed to make a decision, whether it was right or wrong, to keep him, and weed them out one by one, that's business. A small hospitality business needs a certain among of employee, say 25; it will hire 75 and weed out the one's who have no interest. I'm sure; there are people here, that know more about this. A little early to tell, and I believe we Americans, are headed in the right direction, except for the hate the media is pumping out, get's frustrating, how much dissatisfaction they have with this President. I did not like Obama or Bush, but I still supported them both.

I'm not naive.  I said that he admitted to obstructing justice which is an impeachable offense, not that he would be impeached.  Given the present composition of the government it's unlikely that a smoking gun along with a bloody knife would be enough to move the party in power to take action.

There is a chance that the Democrats could take the House in 2018 and impeach Trump with a simple majority.  They might do that simply to stand back and watch Trump's head explode since there is no chance they could get 67% of the Senate to vote to convict.

0What fantasy world do you live in Eagle ? The dems will lose more seats in both the house and senate in 2018 they have idiots in charge of democratic party. The American people recognize this and are voting republican because of leftist liberal radicals.

You all can hate Trump all you want but the guy works hard for the people of American and that is being noticed by even the most die hard dems. The States that he carried by small margins will again vote republican because they see what has been accomplished in many areas of government. and what is still to be accomplished. If not for the liberal want a be judges that want to legislate law instead of judging law by the constitution there would even be more to put in Trump's column. Look why don't you just get over the fact the Dems lost because Hilary sucked the big one, and she fixed the primary so Bernie couldn't win. Just get over the dems failure and move on THIS country needs to move on. It is time to forget about the election and deal with all problems we have here to deal with along with all those all over the world. This is what we are suppose to do after a heated election JUST MOVE ON.

I guarantee you that I don't live in the world of Fox. Trump supporters can call the mainstream media as fake news and whatever insult they can level at Liberals.  The fact is that the vast majority of media outlets, many of which have long been considered conservative, are horrified at the incompetent in the White House.

We'll see whether the Democrats can maintain and improve on the usual gains of the out party in mid-term elections.  I'm 82 so I hope I live to see it.

LOL. I also know the words "poop" and "darn" but wouldn't use them in mixed company...

I didn't really like Bush, older and younger, as a president either. Younger Bush was simply a mouthpiece for Dad and no good came from Dad's politics. No director of the CIA should ever be president; especially one whose grandfather was part of the cabal that initiated the Federal Reserve (If you don't already know about the secret meeting at the end of 1910 I think, on Jeckyl Island off the coast of Georgia).
I've been watching a young fellow named Ben Shapiro speechify and I like what he says. He is a "never Trumper" but he has fairly good reasons for it that don't include hate or whininess. I think he got me when, during a post-speech Q and A, he asked that the liberal leftists get in the line first because, "it is far more fun to argue with those who disagree with me than those who already agree." Although he tries to limit the number of questions from each person to give equal air-time to others, if you have good questions or arguments he will continue to engage you...as time will allow. His responses are concise. However, he can also be brutally abrupt. When the next presidential election rolls around, Shapiro will be old enough to run. If he runs, he will probably run as a conservative libertarian but has a good chance of unseating both the Reps and Dems. I believe there are quite a few members of both parties who will jump ship and swim to his. If he wins, all the freeloaders better be prepared to pull their own weight.

  • 1 month later...

I haven't checked in here for a while.  I was just wondering whether any Trump supporters are starting to wonder about his capability to be President.

Today we learned that his son, presumably without his father's knowledge, was willing to meet with someone  who he was told would provide him with anti-Hillary information..  In advance, he was told that the information was obtained illegally by the Russian government and that they wanted to beat Clinton.

That story is questionable.

What is not questionable is the fact that Hillary violated the Espionage act, and now Comey is being investigated for the same thing, as well as for several other charges. We're talking prison time, here.

This hysteria about Trump that has been created by the DNC and the "civil servants" in power might just very well backfire on them, big time.

As for Trump, his situation with Russia has been investigated by law enforcement for over 11 months now, and there is no evidence.
