Well the alternative is to have the millions of people who's employer does not provide coverage, or they are not healthy enough to qualifyfor affordable coverage go to the emergency room for care and get it written off. More raise in healthcare cost. You can't just eliminate it but have to find a solution that addresses the problems. Obama provided coverage for everyone equally but didn't anticipate the rise in cost due to more usage, or the Healthcare companies pulling out of certain markets.. The business policies are not as effected as the individual market but it's headed there.. The solution lies somewhere in the middle. In America we don't want socialism or allow people to die in the streets. You guys say make America great again..let's see if you mean it..

Obamacare was purposely designed to fail,so that Obama could get what he really wanted which was single payer with the government completely running the healthcare system.

It has been illegal to deny anyone of emergency medical services on the basis of their finances. It's been that way for decades, and it's immoral and against the ethics of any medical doctor.

I simply don't see how expanding the power and cost of the Federal Government can solve such problems. Most of our politicians obviously can't identify the difference between an elbow and an anus...😄

Actually,it's the ability to think for myself and remembering Obama saying that his preference was single payer. Also, passage of Obamacare is the reason the Democrats lost the House and Senate in the 2010 election.so it must not be too popular.

Here you and I agree..I hate the Government involvement did from the start..But the problem of healthcare needed to be fixed then and should have been left to the States to solve the problem.. Funding is the problem there and we still have the part of the population who can't work..I am with you in hoping the economy will allow more companies to provide Jobs with paid medical and we can get the help those that truly need it and fuck the takers who are sucking off the system..Perfect world lol. I think a single payer system would be a disaster. Look at Canada.. you have little choice in doctors and takes months to schedule anything..

You went personal right off the bat. You must only watch FOX news to come up with your figures. I see you quoted Newsweek (one of the most conservative  magazines published) report on travel expenses. It cost tax payers $3 mill ever time Trump goes to Mar-A-Lago. Ever other article states that Trump's travel cost is setting new records and he has spent way more than Obama in the same time period.

Barack Obama's travel expenses averaged just $12.1 million during each year of his presidency. In total, Obama's eight year travel bill came to $97 million and unbelievably, Donald Trump is on pace to outspend him in less than one year. The Washington Post says "the elaborate lifestyle of America’s first family is straining the Secret Service and security officials, stirring financial and logistical concerns in several local communities, and costing far beyond what has been typical for previous presidents."

let's not forget his tweet about Obama's travel:

President @BarackObama's vacation is costing taxpayers millions of dollars----Unbelievable!

You would have to be dead not to realize that Hate in America is out of control since the election. Trump is to busy playing Golf to address the hate issue. He makes light of the hate crimes. One of his lines is us versus them he is dividing the country.

As far as government spending please know what you are talking about before you speak please the chart clearly show Obama decreasing spending compare to GDP.

As a disabled Marine, and a successful business owner of Five Restaurants, which I sold due to my Military injuries. I also have Degrees, Two and Three Certifications, and Ridgerunner is correct. College today is a Joke because most colleges are tainted with Teachers who enjoy executing their beliefs. As an independent, I vote for the candidate who generally cares for Veterans, Law Enforcement, and First responders, and doesn't bleed our country dry, (like Obama)

I grew up with the Trump family, who resided across the Hudson River. So, we Metropolitan s, know him a lot better than you will ever know him, and I don't waste my time watching TV - When we have the Internet. Having those degrees and certifications doesn't make me smarter or a better person. It's just a piece of paper, and is up to the individual to decide, what to do with that piece of paper...Here, we have Doctors, Nurses, Business owners, Physicist, "Writer's on the storm" and most importantly PERVERTS! So excuse us if we feel your spanking your manhood with the tweezers Obama used to pluck his nose hairs from, while engaging in conversation about your Liberal understanding.

One of my passion in life is reading, educating myself whether it be a Conservative or Liberal publication. I can't imagine, how many young minds had too or force too, listen to your rederic, while teaching.  A person who is proud, to display HATE, not only to the President,  but to his own Grand Kids. Sorry, no respect from me!!! I hate a lot things, but I won't fill a young mind, with opinions, like my Dad did me. If it wasn't for the Military, I would have never known about the opposition. What is the definition of “Liberal accountant”? Someone who solves a problem you didn’t know you had in a way you don’t understand. "Typical!"

This Videos shows how naive people can be.... They might even be one or more of your students. Peace Joey 19.gif.90c2fd9232f808b36b9e58074a81ef43.gif

Houlii: I agree with you. The medical system has been in the dumpster since the Federal Government got involved with it way back when World War II ended. At that time, in an attempt to avoid a massive recession (a natural event that happens after a big war), the government froze wages. Corporations that were growing needed employees; they were allowed to perform group purchases of medical insurance and offer them to prospective employees -- a tax exempt compensation. It sounded great at the time for the employees. It had the unintended consequences of raising the costs for individuals who did not work for bigger businesses. Then, in the 1960's, the government created Medicare to take care of people who were not capable of joining the work force. Those subsidies screwed up the supply and demand once again. Now, the only path to medical care is to be wealthy and healthy, or you will need to bulldoze your way through an incompetent and costly government bureaucracy to find your way to a medical doctor. That adds to the cost.

When I was a kid, my dad just wrote a check to the doctor.

My grandfather was in very poor health back in 1930s. He was also utterly impoverished. The church and the community hospital fixed him up. My grandmother paid off the bill by baking and delivering cookies every week to the doctor. Believe me, by the time I showed up in this life, she had learned to make the best cookies on the face of the Earth. Communities and charities take care of their own. Big governments take care of thenselves, but they do it in a selfish and inefficient manner.

I don't come here much. It's an unmoderated thread. Politics and religion are touchy subjects. People get emotional about their beliefs.

The odd thing is that we actually discuss issues here. It doesn't matter that we are unlikely to convince people to agree with us if they don't already share the same political stance. We know what the game is when we come here.

The other odd thing is that, as a Mod, I spend most of my time addressing issues of personal insults and food fights that happen in the Apartment threads, which should be logically the least likely places for stupid insults to fly.

Thank all of you for acting like adults here. This thread was created by TBG150 as an unmoderated thread, because we're both in favor of free speech.  Old Dudes, Rants & Flames have worked out well too, and so has Worldwide Politics.

You can come here and argue furiously with another member. Then you can go and share music at Old Dudes, and discover that you're actually buddies.

Pretty sure you're referring to medicaid as the vehicle for the people who couldn't work but those on Social Security Disability become eligible after 24 months for medicare. I agree Medicaid patients have limited choices because doctors don't get paid as much and can refuse care. I don't know what your dad paid the doctor but the real risk is when your bill is $10,000 or $100,000 for a few days in the hospital and a surgery. If you find a doctor who will take cookies, or chickens ect for care I bet is rare today. "

"Big governments take care of themselves, but they do it in a selfish and inefficient manner."  Better add incompetent to that..

We all feel passion and agree or disagree at times..It's a good thing and we all benefit from the debate if respect is extended to both sided of the discussion..I agree my friend!!

I think most native American citizens, whether left or right, agree that we are fortunate to be born here.

I volunteered for elections this year. Several new voters asked if it was OK for their parents pictures of them casting their ballots into the ballot box.

Another gentleman asked us to take a picture of him casting his vote. He had lived in a 3rd world country, and had gone to the trouble to obtain US citizenship. He wanted to share his picture with his family and friends. He was joyous and proud.

It was heart warming, to say the least. Made all my hours spent as an election clerk worthwhile in just a few moments when I could see how good we have it here.
