West_California
And now for some levity... I'm 73 years old, but i'm not embarrased about it, i was born 82 years ago.... ---------- I went to visit my elderly grandfather who I hadn't seen in 40 years. He looked at me & said...Raymond was it you or your brother who died ? Not wanting to correct the old man I slowly shook my head and said No, I can't remember either. from Victor Borge "then & now"

It was a grand and wonderful evening of music, laughter, fun and, of course, Victor Borge being his consummate self. I was fortunate enough to be on stage that night to sing for his birthday celebration in a huge barbershop chorus based in Northern Virginia. Unfortunately, I am unable to find a digital copy of the show anywhere on the Internet. It's been over 30 years, and I wish I could find a video of the show. It would be nice to see it again.

West_California
In 1812 there occured a war between Russia & France. 60 years later in 1872, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote a music score to sort of explain what happened in that war. He would put together meaningfull pieces of ingredients intertwined to reproduce a musical simulation of that war. The pieces would include: "God save the Czar" the national anthem of the Russian Empire. "La Marseillaise" the French National Anthem. Church Bells to celebrate small victories. Actual cannon fire, 16 firings in all to punctuate the battles. Peacefull interludes to indicate rest and preparation for the next battle. But in 1872 it was impossible to coordinate real church bells and real cannons to work with a symphony orchestra. He published his work anyway. He later had some ideas to make it better, but since it was "out there" in the public, it was impossible to change. Later still he said he hated it, it was "too noisy". Later day conductors made various accomplishments to improve it. I offer the 3 best I've found. Have a box of Kleenex tissues handy and put your feet belt on, these conductors will tear you up... 1812 OVERTURE, amazing FLASHMOB - (Tchaikovsky) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NJRCCgK_AM in a parking lot....
