It's baffling that women striving for equal pay is still (or should I say "again"?...) considered controversial in 2026 by the more backwards in the US...

When it comes to pay in sports and entertainment, it should be based on the ability to bring viewers in.  Serena Williams brought lots of fans in, so she is worth a lot, but not because she is a woman.
Womens basketball doesn't get the viewership mens basketball does, so they aren't as good an investment for owners. Simple economics.

Now when it comes to the normal world of working-stiffs, plugging away in the world, of course equal pay should be the standard.

Ah, you know Greek mythology, but it wasn't a suicide. Perseus got away from the sisters after Medusa's beheading, using the polished shield as a mirror, never looking at her, very clever indeed.
