    There are great variations on the islands. They are former volcanoes and bear the mark of that. Tenerife is probably the most lush island and has the highest mountain, Teide, where steam and sulfur still come out at the top "Teide is a mountain and a dormant volcano on the island of Tenerife, Canary Islands in Spain. With its 3,718 meters (12 198 feet) above sea level and an estimated 7,000 meters above the seabed, it is the highest mountain in Spain, the highest mountain on any island in the Atlantic Ocean and the third largest volcano in the world". Wikipedia Gran Canaria has its sand dunes and is probably the most popular holiday island, at least for us in the Nordic countries. The temperature is more stable here around 25-30 C year-round, even though we now have +38 to 40 degrees C. (104 F)
