See Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 I have seen him often plucking his beard hairs with tweezers, so I started to think about whether it is possible to keep beard short with the tweezers, without shaving it. I searched information of the beard from the Internet. Estimates of a beard growth were pretty unanimous (about 1/2 inch/month, 5 inch/year, ...), so I used 15 cm/year in my calculations. Estimates of the beard hairs per beard varied between 4 000 to 40 000 (more personal variation), but the average was often estimated as 10 000, so I used that. Then the math. All the beard hairs grow per year in total: 15cm * 10 000 = 150 000 cm (1.5 km), which is 4110 mm/day (4.11 m/day) His beard is about 3 mm, so he must pluck 4110/3 = 1370 beard hairs/day If he plucks beard hair every three seconds it takes 1370 * 3 sec = 4110 sec/day = 68 min/day. Conclusion: He does not have to shave his beard, if he uses about an hour per day for plucking it.
Dth Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Any information on age factor. As I get older I get a hair cut less and less often because is does not grow as fast.
See Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 There are so many factors, but I thought I would make some kind of an indicative calculation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beard
