I definitely would've chosen Spain/Portugal over Poland or Germany. There is huge population of Ukrainians in Poland. My friend moved her family to Belgium. 1

Yeah aside from RLC, more the big picture, once the war is done there will be a shitload of new problems. 😟 Not wanting to get political here, but, I guess there is no chance. The EU can't revert their residency, if they do by it would be a great break of the international laws and the Democracy. Not to mention that the EU wants to speed up Ukraine joining the block.

There are so many hurdles to Ukraine joining the EU, even if they were able to complete those requirements, they still have opposition from other EU countries that oppose them joining the union.

If Spain is doing this, so I guess this is all over the EU too. The residency is easy. The girls were taking about three months not long ago. IIRC, Chilli was one of those that got one while she was in the project. Maybe the citizenship is much harder. Yes , all EU ( Schengen countries ) have the same policy when it comes on how the Ukrainians can move within the EU borders . But I think each country has a different policy on how to give citizenship ( in Spain you need to marry a local for example but when needs to be done “ technically “ , then lots and lots of money are on the table ) . I think when the war is over , permanent residency will be lift off , the question is if after having settled in the countries that the Ukrainians have now moved , what they will do ? Will they return back home ? ( endless job opportunities will open so as for the country to rebuild many things fast ) Or they will try to find ways and become legally permanent ? Ukraine isn’t expected in the European Union until 2030 the earliest .

But you are spot on, there will be plenty of opportunity.

In Greece for example we have thousands of people from Syria , Lebanon and countries of this part of the world let’s say that stay in special organized places mostly on islands and the country tries to give them Greek inhabitants benefits after certain amount of time spend in the country , it’s a really big big talk on how in the end these people manage to become part of the society 😬🙄 . I think most of the people , will return in their homes , but only of course when 100% safety is secured . But also some really clever ones will manage to stay in their now hosted countries . It will be a difficult period for sure after the war but in a whole other level . 1
corvette08 Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Why do I feel like I am the only one that could care less where these people are from and where they are going when they leave? 3
