The NFL and the National Anthem

Yes they would be very disappointed it what has become of national patriotism, They would be even more disappointed in what today is called political correctness. My mother who is 86 years old and seen things from the dirty thirties to WW 2, from 60's flower power to 80's of Regan democrats, from radio to television to cell phones and everything between. A Life long democrat who believes the republicans of today are more like the democrats of old and has changed parties. Voted for President Trump. has been pilfered by Obamacare because she is old and should be dead. I asked her what she thought about the NFL deal, and she told me she is disgusted with how young people today disrespect the American traditions and patriotism. She said she never thought she would live to see it. -

The NFL has learned in one week what it took Hillary Clinton almost two years to find out, and that is, more people agree with Donald Trump. Sales of NFL tickets at the online ticket re-seller site TickPick have cratered, dropping off 17.9 percent which is a number far worse than the average Week 3 drop off, according to the Washington Examiner. The NFL sales at TickPick dropped 17.9 percent this week, nearly double the 10.8 percent drop-off during Week 3 in 2016. The lack of viewers for Thursday night’s NFL game between the Packers and the Bears proved that pushing politics on one of the populace’s favorite sport just drives them away. According to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS reported that 2017’s debut of Thursday Night Football is down a whopping 14 percent compared to the 2016 opener. Compared with the Nielsen ratings of the National Football League’s 2016 season, this year's viewership of televised games for the first three weeks has dropped 11 percent – an indication that fans are fed up with players playing politics … instead of football. Roger Goddell is a pussy for not enforcing the NFL"s own rule about respecting the great flag of this country and the playing of the National Anthem. Trump needs to fire Roger Goddell if the owners don't do it first. Drain the NFL swamp !!! The NBA sent a memo late Friday to teams reinforcing its rule that players and coaches stand for the national anthem, suggesting other ways in which they might address the recent protest movement sweeping across the NFL and other sports. The memo, a copy of which was obtained by ESPN, was distributed by deputy commissioner Mark Tatum. It instructs teams that "the league office will determine how to deal with any possible instance in which a player, coach, or trainer does not stand for the anthem." The memo states that individual teams "do not have the discretion to waive" the rule that players, coaches and staff stand for the anthem. The league has the discretion to discipline players who violate the rule. It is not clear if the league would exercise it in the event of any protest. Now that is how we as god loving Americans respect our great flag, and the national anthem. This is how we have always shown respect in the public arena of athletics. Ladies and gentlemen, would you please stand, remove your hats, and face the flag for the playing of the National Anthem. and afterward a local pastor always says a prayer for the players safety and fans. Last night I went to our local High school football game, it was the 100th meeting of a long standing rivalry,, NO protest just a great game that we lost 28 to 27. After the game was over and players shook hands, The Referees, the coach's, and players, and cheerleaders all met in the middle of the field and those who chose not to pray with them stood behind in respect for their right to pray after the game. I think these overpaid professional athletes could learn a little something from these high school kids !!! BTW our High School is 72% Hispanic with an Afro American head coach. -

No I am talking about Black Panther party movement, that the raised black gloved fist came from, and of which the Olympic athletes in 68 games emulated on the podium while the playing of the national anthem. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Panther_Party and honestly Mike if anyone has the right feel oppressed it is of course women Black Americans got the right to vote when the Republicans passed the 15th Amendment. It was ratified on February 3, 1870 and was the 3rd of the Reconstruction amendments. Although women were granted the right to vote in 1920, women did not turn out to the polls in the same numbers as men until 1980. -

So is raising the fist with a black glove just like the black panthers did in the 60's for black power Mike isn't it ? "C'mon man" to coin a phrase from one of the greatest coaches ever in the NFL What about those who sit on their asses during the National Anthem, I guess that is respecting the fallen as well ? -

C"MON MAN.... DA Coach speaks out MIKE DITKA "But I don't believe you demonstrate against the American flag. I believe in the American flag. Or demonstrate against the Constitution. I believe in the Constitution. I'm old fashioned. There are other ways to get your point across. But I don't believe one should demonstrate against our country. Just play football. "I think it's a problem. Anybody who disrespects this country and the flag. If they don't like the country they don't like our flag, get the hell out. My choice is, I like this country, I respect our flag, and I don't see all the atrocities going on in this country that people say are going on," Ditka said. "I see opportunities if people want to look for opportunity. Now, if they don't want to look for them then you can find problems with anything, but this is the land of opportunity because you can be anything you want to be if you work. If you don't work, that's a different problem." -

Wonderful how this all American NFL player treats a fan for calling him out on his protest of the National Anthem, Brandon Marshall should be fined and made to sit out some games for this shit, but the gutless Roger Goddell (The so-called Commissioner of the NFL) won't do anything about it. Pete Roselle is turning over in his grave. Alvin Ray "Pete" Rozelle (/roʊˈzɛl/; March 1, 1926 – December 6, 1996) was the commissioner of the National Football League for nearly thirty years, from January 1960 to November 1989, when he retired from office. He is credited with making the NFL into one of the most successful sports leagues in the world -

Following players kneeling during the National Anthem over the weekend, a number of subscribers requested compensation from the cable provider. DirecTV is offering refunds for its NFL Sunday Ticket product to customers who are upset that players are protesting during the National Anthem. While DirecTV and the NFL were unavailable for comment, a customer service representative confirmed that refunds are being offered. The news was reported earlier Tuesday by the Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg. The football package can cost up to $300 for the season, but there are a variety of discounts available. Usually, there's a grace period, then refunds are not offered, but a customer representative said refunds are being given after the normal grace period when subscribers complain they're offended by players who have been kneeling during the National Anthem. Thank you for being honest Eagle, I respect that. I have served my community and my church for all of my adult life. I completely agree with the government should take care of those in need with compassion. I can not agree with anyone who disrespects what this country stands for, or the symbolism of the National Anthem or the flag we so proudly display to world and what it represents. "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Section 4 of the Flag Code states: The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.", should be rendered by standing at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. When not in uniform men should remove any non-religious headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should remain silent, face the flag, and render the military salute." -

As usual you changed the most important part of the post that we should not use our jobs, or our position of employment to proliferate our politics or belief's. I didn't agree with Mohamad Ali's protest to the draft by using his status in boxing, I don't agree with the NFL disrespecting the National Anthem and flag the protects them to have that right. If they started a movement outside of the NFL games and tried to make a difference using their football abilities, I would be behind them 100 percent, as long as they were not disrespecting the flag, or the National Anthem in any way. The town I live is named Liberal, Kansas, and I truly understand the definition of liberal. You on the other hand are very defensive all the time. Do you, or do you have any children served in the military for this great country ? and fight or pledge their life to give you the rights you have ? Or those premadonna NFL players to disrespect the flag and our countries National Anthem. You speak of inequality, what have given of yourself to help the poor ? -

Read what I posted to start the thread, and just like your brotherhood of liberals, along with the main stream media, you try to make and put words into what you think someone is saying, instead of reading or hearing what they say. -
