  5. The controversy over the NFL and the National Anthem continues, with players kneeling while the White House fumes. But the question is: Are players - or anyone else not standing for the National Anthem - breaking the law? No, at least according to the U.S. Code. The code contains a list of Star-Spangled Banner etiquette. It says: Conduct during a rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed: (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; (B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and (C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed. The key word here is "should," according to legal experts, which stops short of "shall" or "must."

  7. The 1968 Olympics Black Power salute was a political demonstration conducted by African-American athletes Tommie Smith and John Carlos during their medal ceremony at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the Olympic Stadium in Mexico City. After having won gold and bronze medals respectively in the 200 meter running event, they turned on the podium to face their flags, and to hear the American national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner". Each athlete raised a black-gloved fist, and kept them raised until the anthem had finished. In addition, Smith, Carlos, and Australian silver medalist Peter Norman all wore human rights badges on their jackets. In his autobiography, Silent Gesture, Smith stated that the gesture was not a "Black Power" salute, but a "human rights salute". The event is regarded as one of the most overtly political statements in the history of the modern Olympic Games you mean this here ?
  8. Kneeling is a basic human position where one or both knees touch the ground. It is used as a resting position, during childbirth and as an expression of reverence and submission. Also often tied with the phrase "taking a knee" which is a sign of compassion as well as honoring the fallen or injured. it look like the NFL players are showing respect to the fallen and the injured by kneeling but its being miss read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kneeling

  16. wait so kneeling is disrespecting the American flag how is that disrespect? are the NFL players wearing the U.S. flag as a cape now that's disrespect so we as American do not have the right to kneel while the natural anthem is playing what the NFL players are doing by kneeling is freedom to express yourself
  17. you guys read to much in to that and yes I'm picking on you all
  18. http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/freedom-of-expression.html
  19. laugh my ass off sorry if I did not answer you I was writing my thoughts in the NFL trend
  20. so we are bitching over same thing that is so stupid like the NFL players kneeled before the national anthem please explain to me how is that disrespect or a protest to my opinion kneeling is showing respect for this country and those who serve you are showing respect for the flag and what it represents like freedom to express yourself to speak your mind we have the freedom to do all most what we want... let me get back to freedom to express yourself is that what the NFL players are doing right now locking arms kneeling. now I do not see it as disrespect I see it as respect not a protest either.. we as Americans have the right to express yourself there is no law that states that you should stand during the national anthem. here a fact for you all in 1931 president Herbert hoover signed a law that made the star spangled banner our official national anthem if same one kneels or take some other posture when the national anthem is played it is part of our right to freedom of expression so Donald trump is wrong at this one all so and the same goes for those who are bitching about the NFL players kneeling. how pathetic
