Well old friend, did you eat some burgers or hot dogs, and slam down some beer tonight?   Did you enjoy the day, as I guess that's all that really matters.

I myself turned down an invite to a lake house party, where everyone all down both sides of that lake really do it up big time with all the fireworks.   I know, because I went there last year.   But I just could bring myself to celebrate the 4th this year, because in many ways I no longer feel as though this is the same country that I once felt so good about.

Maybe, if we can still hold onto the senate, and get Trump in there, next year will find me in better spirits.
