  1. It's been levelled at me a few times that I go whining to the mods but that is something I have never done.

Fuck's sake, we have a new Woodworker. Why are you commenting on a thread that has nothing to do with you?

    3) No stalking, harassing Let's see if that rule is enforced then.

Why are you commenting on this necro thread, like you're desperate to rekindle something you think you may have lost last time? It definitely has something to do with the irrelevant juvenile bullshit you were posting on the Syrian thread - you're just out to wind me up, plain and simple. Good luck with that you sad little man.

Not interested JoJoGunne. Pick a subject on "Worldwide Political Discussions", anything you like, start a new thread in this proper section and I'll show you just how thick, irrelevant and juvenile you are - again.

Or, just reply to this thread with some personal bullshit and prove to everyone that the above is true without stepping out of your comfort zone of stupidity.

    LOL!!

Dude...don't get your panties in a twist.  Heck, I wasn't even talking to you.

  2. I landed on this thread to see what it was about. And I have no idea.

I have read the posts - as painful as some are - and I still have no idea what this tread is about.  Other than the post from TGB 150 (which I think is spot on - if this is what the topic was/is) earlier here, I can not find anything else about this topic that makes sense to someone just looking at it.

    Sort of funny actually.

Sorry to interrupt - carry on ......

Like you, I came into this thread late and have read all the posts.  But I figured out real quick...actually by reading the first post...what it's all about:

The OP wants to whine and cry.  Plain and simple.  It's pretty much all a bunch of    :BS:

  3. Another result of the refugee influx into the EU:

German woman threatened with eviction to make way for refugees

A 51-year-old German woman is being evicted from her home of 16 years to make way for refugees, with shelters already full across the country

A woman in Germany is being evicted from her home of 16 years to make way for asylum-seekers, amid growing concerns over how Germany will find accommodation for the hundreds of thousands of refugees flooding into the country.

Bettina Halbey, a 51-year-old nurse, has lived alone in her flat in the small western German town of Nieheim since her children grew up.

On September 1, she received a letter from her landlord, the local municipality, telling her the building was being turned into a refugee shelter and she had until next May to leave.

“I was completely taken aback,” Ms Halbey told Welt newspaper. “I find it impossible to describe how the city has treated me.”

And here, we have the poor immigrants actually refusing a country that'll take them in...

'Finland's no good': Disappointed migrants turn back

Hundreds of predominantly Iraqi migrants who have travelled through Europe to reach Finland are turning back, saying they don't want to stay in the sparsely-populated country on Europe's northern frontier because it's too cold and boring.

Migrants have in recent weeks been crossing back into Sweden at the Haparanda-Tornio border just an hour's drive south of the Arctic Circle, and Finnish authorities have seen a rise in the number of cancelled asylum applications.

"You can tell the world I hate Finland. It's too cold, there's no tea, no restaurants, no bars, nobody on the streets, only cars," 22-year-old Muhammed told AFP in Tornio, as the mercury struggled to inch above 10 degrees Celsius (50 Fahrenheit) on a recent blustery grey day.

He had already travelled from Tornio to the capital Helsinki almost 750 kilometres (465 miles) south, and then back up to the Tornio border again to return to Sweden.

Migrants who lack proper travel documents are unable to take the ferries that run between Helsinki and Stockholm.

Another group of around 15 Iraqi refugees waiting at the bus station that Tornio shares with its Swedish twin town Haparanda also said they wanted to go back to southern Sweden.

"Finland is no good," the men echoed each other.

  4. I don't own any Samsung devices, so I cannot speak directly to them.

For Android, I have the following:

I have an underpowered LG phone that I don't do much with except make the occasional phone call or FB Messenger text.

I also have an EVGA Tegra Note 7 tablet that I do a lot of stuff with.

On both devices, I've taken the same steps to deal with Flash:  I downloaded the latest Flash drivers, which are very old...and I use the Dolphin Browser along with the Dolphin Jetpack addon.

The problem with the old, now-unsupported Flash drivers is that they won't work with any Android version newer than 4.1...which is what my phone uses.  For anything greater than 4.1, you have to go another route, which means a browser with Flash built in.

The browsers mentioned by other members are all good, but they can have problems depending on your device.  Here is a link that talks about them:  https://www.androidpit.com/how-to-install-flash-player-on-android

The comments in that article might provide more help.

Another alternative is to get a cheap Windows tablet.  I have an HP Stream 7 that I've upgraded to Win10.  Flash is still supported for Windows and it works great on that device.

  5. The blog you cited gives no links to supporting data.  That, alone, casts doubt on the reliability and accuracy of the events described.  But what REALLY makes me tend to dismiss the whole article is the contention that "all the 27 members of the crew filed a letter of resignation".

    1.  Officers might be able to submit letters of resignation...depending if they have fulfilled their initial obligation to the Navy, but Chief Petty Officers and enlisted crew members cannot.  The Petty Officers, if they have more than 20 years in service can request retirement.  Enlisted crew are serving under their enlistment contract and have no ability to resign, though they may ask to be released from their contract.  Such a request is unlikely to be granted by the Navy, however.

    2.  According to publicly available information, the USS Donald Cook has a crew of 23 Officers, 24 Chief Petty Officers and 291 Enlisted.  Far more than the 27 crew members cited in that blog.

    3.  I've been in the Army and I cannot believe that a complete unit would abandon their mission...their Service...and their country.  Not under ANY circumstances.  The Navy is no different.

So...regardless the conspiracy theories, there is, as far as that blog is concerned, no support for what it says...except that the ship was buzzed by Russian aircraft around the date cited.  Frankly, I find the whole story to be so lacking in credibility that it's not even worth my time to consider it.

But hey...as long as we are wearing our tinfoil hats, we should also consider the possibility that the USS Donald Cook purposely placed itself in that position...ie, a lone ship in possibly hostile waters...so that it could gain data on current Russian jamming technology.  If so, you can be sure the Navy is developing protection against such technology.

  6. Does RLC pay enough money or offer enough perks to acquire the type of tenants that most of CC seem to want?  I often wonder exactly what it is that makes people want to be a tenant of RLC.  Is it because they are desperate, or is it because they get some kind of high from it, or because they are exhibitionists, is it the locations of the apartments, etc; etc;

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    1.  The first thing you need to do is define what you think is "the type of tenants that most of CC seem to want".  I'm not sure RLC actually DOES acquire the kind of people you might be talking about and I'm not sure RLC even cares what kind of people you think CC seems to want.

    2.  The second thing is...unless someone has gotten their hands on an RLC contract, I don't think anyone really knows WHAT RLC is giving tenants as compensation.  However, it is possible to speculate and I suppose there has been a lot of speculation here on CC over the years.  It's probably pretty safe to say that rent and utilities is the basis of the offered package.  I think some amount of cash might be in the mix as well...but that's just a guess.

    3.  As to what makes people want to be a tenant, the reasons are probably as varied and individual as the number of tenants themselves.  The reasons you suggest could all be valid for some tenants and not for others.  My opinion is the base reason is monetary.

  7. You have posted a video of 2 groups of Arabic looking people having a fight and you have spun it to show it as a warning about the Muslim influx into the EU.

    People having a fight???

Dude...this is people running each other over with cars!!

But tell me, would this have happened in Switzerland if those people had not immigrated to the EU?

Do you or have you ever worked for Fox News?

    LOL!!

This kind of snide remark is a failed tactic...but, of course, it's pretty much all you have.

This unhelpful type of poorly researched and worded sensationalism brings nothing to the discussion on Syria, I'm sensing a definite pattern.

Oh...I'm sure these videos I've been posting are very unhelpful to your position that there is nothing wrong with the influx of immigrants into the EU.  Isn't that too bad for you?

But yeah...you should be sensing a pattern.  The pattern that indicates that the EU is experiencing disruption to their peaceful life that will only get worse.

You haven't taken Ozi's advice have you?

Ozi's advice?  Honestly, I haven't read any of his posts beyond a cursory skim, so you'll have to tell me what his advice has been.

I think that you think that posting nonsense, asking ridiculous questions (such as me pointing you to a post less than 4 pages back) and just the mere fact that you keep on doing it, is going to make me give up showing you for a fool because I will get frustrated by it.

I've already move on from your refusal to dispute my initial post in this thread...or to point out where you have disputed my post.  Why do you keep bringing it up if you aren't going to deal with it?

  8. I'm not sure what game it is you're playing here but I'm not playing it. Unless the post with the facts and figures about the refugee crisis has been deleted, I'm not even going to check that has happened,

No game...at least, not on my part.

But thank you for admitting that you don't want to reference this mythical post of yours...you don't even want to see if it exists.

    shrug...

I gave you a chance...you decline to take it...we are done here.

    tschüss

  9. Sure thing, I'll take what you said on board, thanks for the advice:

I think you simply don't want different people messing up the status quo. I think that the above quote shows that you think you're better than them.

That's better.  It would be even better if you explained why you think that way instead of just stating your opinion.

I know and have proved (whether you choose to read that proof or not) that your protestations and opinions are groundless

Actually, I don't think you have, though if you think you have please provide me with the post number in which you've presented your proof.

  10. Looks like I'm getting the hang of this quoting business, huh.

You can’t pass any of the above off as reasoned and informed points of view.  You simply don't want different people messing up the status quo. This is what shows that you think you're better than them.  Well done indeed for being better than refugees, who have only the clothes on their backs - oh and smartphones seeing as Syria was a reasonably prosperous country before it went tits up.

I commend you for stating an opinion and confusing that with the truth! "LOL"

    Truth??

Ummm...let me clue you in, dude...when I say, "I think", I am expressing an opinion.  I normally follow that up with an explanation of what informs my opinion.  And that is all I did in that post that you quoted.

Now...you are certainly free to disagree with my opinion and my explanation.  Frankly, I don't care if you agree or not.  But when you assign opinions and attitudes to me that I have not expressed, such as, "You simply don't want different people messing up the status quo." or "you think you're better than them", you are simply lying.

If you want to keep doing that, then we have nothing to talk about.

  11. Non of our right wings friends on this board even knew such a place existed, because their glorious leaders and duplicitous mouth pieces do not want to upset the Saudis so you won't find that mentioned on Faux News.

I've known about this place for quite some time, but I don't have a problem with Saudi Arabia's decision to not take in the refugees.  Seems to me the Saudis are being pretty smart by keeping millions of people who don't care  about their own country from coming in to not care about Saudi Arabia.

The EU could probably learn a lesson or two from the Saudis.
