cryptolocker virus!

I just got hit by the cryptolocker virus. I managed to remove it pretty quickly but not before it had encrypted pretty much all my documents, pdfs and images. Any of you tech guys know how to decrypt the files? Help would be much appreciated  :) The virus is telling me I have to pay to get the RSA key to decrypt the files, but I am obviously not going to do that.

I did a quick google search and found two way to deal with your encrypted files.

Really the only way to get rid of it is to pay up or get rid of do a format. If you have backups, no problem. If not, you're screwed.

A while back there was a tool released that can remove it SOMETIMES (it has a database of the encryption keys, but not all of them). See here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2462280/cryptolocker-decrypted-researchers-reveal-website-that-frees-your-files-from-ransomware.html

Good luck, it's a pain in the ass.

I'd hose my system; thus saving me from manually deleting the 550 bookmarks and 2300 useless programs I've accumulated. But then again, I subscribe to Carbonite.com and have a USB back-up drive. Valuable files are also backed up on my Linux system because it's simply more secure and stable.

Sorry to hear of you predicament, my friend.

I don't have any valuable files.  It's say; I know.  I just have a lot of worthless crap.  I see an icon and I open the file, only to be disappointed to see yet another turd document, picture, or a link to more bullshit.
