Expand Officially Canada is metric however even the young engineers where I work have to deal with both metric and imperial. Sidebar: the stupidest thing is instead of (miles per gallon), autos are sold and rated and gauges in (litres per 100km). That means nothing to me…fricking unintuitive and I always convert to miles/gallon so I know WTF it means.

Expand I used all my life litres/100km, but find that miles/gallon makes more sense and requires less math to figure something. 1

I know why, because they have a lot of countries that are so close to each others. You can walk right over the border. And you're in another country that absolutely speaks a different Language. And because your neighbors are so close. You get adapted to hearing that different languages. And you learn those languages. ✌️
