From what we witnessed and what I have been told, pretty much, yes. 

That being said, they don't need to be super close friend that goes way back. Sometimes that's just people that they met "randomly". 

Now that I think about it, I never asked if there's a finder fee (that would make sense, and explain some "choices").

Yeah I didn't like him at all, he wormed his way to try to bed Karma, he got as far as the finger banging then she fell out with him the next day after he had been talking shite. 

The way he latched on to girls was more uncomfortable to watch than entertaining to me.
