Who knows... but it is a character flaw that will plague all of her long time relationships with men. It's something she should seek professional help to try and mitigate. Leech is just a pathetic loser with no self respect. This guy can't even talk to Elli unless he's half drunk. Then all of a sudden he's a teenager acting like he's never been laid. He's just as needy as she is and that's what attracts Elli so much.
