I think you answered your own question. Maybe the beauty shop isn't about making money, but about getting out of the apartment and away from Paul.

I question what anyone says about what goes on outside the apartment and away from the cameras. My guess is that there's a lot of speculation and fabrication of scenarios that fit better into some people's imaginations that they do into reality. Regardless of what she's doing when out alone, I stand by my assumption of why she's out.
