You know, I don't usually look at all the video threads, but I was browsing a couple today and in both I see you shouting about MP4 MP4 MP4, etc.

Now...I read that you have a Surface RT.  Cool.  That's a fine tablet.  But, you know, there are lots of Win8 RT apps that'll convert a wide variety of video formats.  I really haven't looked, but I'm sure there are lots of apps that'll play videos of various formats.

So...how about you stop the shouting.  Stop the demanding.  Get off your lazy ass.  Take care of your video problems your own self?

Just use VLC Media Player - it's free and works on cheap machines as well  ;D

I, too, would recommend VLC...except there isn't yet a non-beta version for Win8 (any Win8) released.

Win RT wont get any support as it is dead as a Dodo as far as a platform.

The newly released RT 8.1 will support Apps and get better compatibility with Windows Software, but still wont be fully compatible.

I didn't want to turn this into a Win8 thread, but I have to say that you are wrong...technically.

Sure, RT is out.  It's already been replaced by RT8.1 and that will be upgraded soon to join it with Win8 Phone.  A person with an original RT tablet can...and should...take advantage of the updates.

But, the fact is, most of the "Metro" apps are being developed as being compatible with RT-type tablets as well as tablets and other devices (PC, laptop, etc.) that can run the full version of Win8.1.

The lesser RT-type devices won't be going away and will receive full support by MS and app developers.
