On Jan.4, 2021 President Trump authorized up to 20,000 National Guard troops to be used for crowd control at the Capitol for his Jan.6 rally. Nancy Pelosi and the D.C. Mayor refused the National Guard troops. Why did they refuse the National Guard protection when they knew groups were planning to storm the Capitol Building? Ridgerunner Posted June 10, 2022 Share Posted June 10, 2022 Fact: On Jan.6 there was a legal Constitutional challenge to the 2020 presidential election by Republicans taking place in the Capitol Building just as Democrats had challenged the results of the 2004 (George W. Bush) election and the 2016 (Donald Trump) election. As a result of the Jan.6 riot that challenge was stopped and the election was certified by Congress later that night.
