Tha's to fill the gap between the door and the door frame. They do in all bedrooms.

At first I thought it was a sign of " don't come in I"m busy". But then I saw once with out it and the door was beating the door frame because of the wind.

The wind and draft cause the door to "slap", so the paper prevents that noise.

IIRC all tenants does that in all rooms, the current and in the past.
