Helps to prevent an authoritarian central government from dominating the country. State's rights gives citizens protection from dictatorial powers of Washington, D.C. Since you are the product of an authoritarian central government system you probably cannot appreciate the concept of state and individual rights. That is the beauty of a governing process that has checks and balances built into it. Prevents too much power from being concentrated in one person or one government entity.
