I agree, I think Val & Jul being a couple was a setup or arrangement between them so they can join RLC because they were not intimate for the first several months.  

It reminded me of Martina & Alberto which I believe it was an arrangement to join RLC that lasted for 5 or 6 years. I think it was very successful for gaining many viewers.
