Though it's not the majority of girls in Europe either, I think it's more accepted to be a bit "body free" as a girl without getting condemned over here (though there are certainly exceptions in more conformist circles), while in (most of) the US or perhaps the whole American continent, it's probably more often seen as inappropriate/disrespectful.
