Sorry for the outage. I was changing a database password and it took the site down for a few minutes. All is well.

Does anyone know approximately when the site went offline?

Attachments (images) are still being restored. Everything should be back to normal shortly. Please change your passwords if you haven't already. I am still trying to figure out who did this. I'll let you all know what I find out.

We were hacked >:(. I don't know how long the forum was down for as I only checked it a few minutes ago. I have restored the Database to sometime yesterday afternoon. This means that any uploads, comments, etc. that were made between yesterday afternoon and today are lost. For some reason attachments aren't showing up, I am working on restoring them.

Sounds good to me. At the moment we only have two mods. If we need more mods to support this we can add a couple more.

One of us is thoroughly confused here. Restricting viewing for non paying members? I'm not aware of anyone paying for membership to this forum. If you are referring to RLC membership, what would that have anything to do with this site? Just to reiterate we have no paying members here. Membership is free, and it will stay that way!

Initially, I was trying to get people to start new threads when they had new topics to discuss or new pic sets. However, I quickly realized that people either didn't like starting new threads, or didn't know how to. At the time we probably didn't have the traffic volume to warrant that anyway. Now, Aside from adding new features here and there and some administrative duties I try to stay hands off and let things evolve on their own. If you would like to create threads as you described feel free to do so. However, I am not going to police them. I'll leave that up to you and the the other mod (we may need more mods).

Market study? Statistics? It's just for self interest.. You will now see a gender icon under your member name when you post. You must set your gender in your account profile for it to show up.

It's fairly common for guests to have to register to post on a forum. We have implemented KeyCaptcha so guests can register in a matter of seconds instead of having to wait for admin approval. Guests can still view posts and attachments, but they can't view links.

I agree to an extent. I think we are going to make posting available to registered members only, and disable attachment viewing for guests. The primary reason being spam. In the last week or so we have been getting bombarded with spam, and it's been a pain in the ass to keep up with. I also agree that letting guest view with little to no contribution isn't fair to those who take the time to actually post. Thank you for your suggestion.

We were testing a new feature. Guest link viewing has been enabled again.

Should be working now. admin ! ,while you are there , has something been changed on the site on the last few days as I get no response with my RIM playbook any more? the site still works great on my PC, just my tablet gets 503 errors. Nothing has changed that should effect that. 503 errors usually occur when there is a timeout or when the server is overloaded. I can try to look into it, but I would guess that it's a temporary or device specific problem.
