likely because they have chosen to take advantage of the benifits of being a premium member. Again nothing has changed in the way cc operates. This has been in place for more than two years.

Actually the attachments center is back! I have changed the reply box so only premium members can attach  pictures to reduce confusion. Previously any one could add an attachment but only premium members could see them. I think that was a bit confusing.

No. That simply isn't the case. 

Update: I just installed an updated version of the Attachment Center that addresses this issue, now those types attachments should be hidden from view.  

If the file has an envelope icon as highlighted in the picture below it means that it was sent in a private conversation (Personal Message), and you won't be able to see it unless you were included in the initial conversation.

The site is now being served in full HTTPS, which means that you will see the green lock symbol next to the URL. However, pages that have images or videos embedded from third-party hosts that don't use SSL will show a grey lock symbol with an exclamation point, this is because parts of the page are being served without SSL. I will be making a sticky post about this later.

Nothing in that chain of posts suggests to me that we would stop allowing third party image hosts. I have never said that we would stop allowing third party image hosts, nor do I believe that any of the mods have said that. Either way, I will definitively say that we have no plans to change the policy on third party hosts, now or in the future. You are free to use whatever hosts you like so long as they don't have viruses or malware.

By popular request I had an Attachments Center mod made for this software. I would appreciate it if you would take a look at it and let me know if there are any issues or bugs that need to be fixed.

Because he didn't embed them correctly, or used the wrong embed code. Had he uploaded them directly to CC you would be able to see them.

I am apparently not the only one who have problems but I am not going to clear all my browser data again as I did last time because then I have to spend time logging into my other sites with the passwords. I don't have these problems with other sites especially when I type in the right password.

1. That feature is not currently enabled for regular members. It was causing a lot of issues, some people want to be able to rate anonymously, and others were attacking people for giving them negative ratings. 

2. Please provide the error message if you received one. The chat is working for me currently, and there are consistently people in the chat. 

3. This may be a caching issue with your browser. I have not experienced this issue, and I am in and out several times per day on several different devices.

5. Your mail system is likely filtering out the message. The mail system is functioning and it successfully sends several hundred e-mails per day, and we are not on any blacklists. If you have some type of mail log or error that would help to diagnose the issue.

In summary, I don't believe the items that you've identified are systemic issues with the software. I think it's more likely some kind of caching issue with your browser, and/or your browser doesn't play well with Java Script.  To better troubleshoot this I'd need to know what browser your running and what OS you're using. Depending on the browser there are ways to clear the cache for specific websites.

There was a question and it look like you all like to avoid to give the answer. It is not about What I can see or I want to see .It's about what majority visitors on forum can see. It's not going to happen. But lets just say. How about all the others 80% users simply at some point will stop to post  their content. What kind of form forum we will have at that moment  to offer for casual everyday visitors. Empty comment boxes. Well i guess that could be fun to see.

It's been this way for at least two years now. I get what you're saying but consider this: One of the main benefits of being a premium member is that it is a semi exclusive group where people can post and share with like minded folks without having to worry as much about their content being re-uploaded, taken down, or shared with the drive by forum viewer who makes no effort to contribute. Those who become Premium Members are generally long time fans who share more and dedicate more time to the community, and thus share better content. It wouldn't be fair to those who have been premium members for a few years now to suddenly make all of their work open to everyone, when they were sharing it with the idea that only a select few would be able to see it. Having a membership fee has the added benefit of being a slight barrier to entry, which means that those who actually do join are generally the people who are the most knowledgeable and share the best stuff. That being said I really can't stress enough that you don't need to be a premium member to participate in this community. There are plenty of forums out there that rely completely on third party hosting for attachments and don't let you directly upload files at all. Personally,I think the system that we have now offers the best of both worlds. You can talk and share with everyone if you want to, or you can talk and share semi-privately with a small group who care enough about the subject to pay the membership fee.

Unfortunately this chat has VERY limited features. I don't know why it's so limited, It might be to try and limit server resources.  I am actively looking for a replacement. I hope to have a solution within the next two weeks.

What you've said above simply isn't true, and is not how the Attachments Center worked. If an Attachment was deleted from a post it was deleted from the Attachment Center. The best analogy that I can can come up with is this: The forum software is like a file cabinet where everything is categorized in it's own folder, it's easily searchable by date, poster, keywords, etc.  While the Attachments Center was like laying all the files in the file cabinet onto the floor and then allowing people to view 20 documents at a time. In both scenarios the files still reside in the File Cabinet (I.e. the forum), the only difference is the way in which you view them.

It is a disappointment this new format and as a Premium member I even lost my log in and profile details including photo.

Seems a bit of an amateurish change over, we could have been forewarned so we could have saved some favourite attachments on our own machines.      

 

Please read this post concerning the attachments center: 

1. No one ever posted "stuff in the attachments pages".

2. They are still easily accessible where they were initially posted.

3. You may have lost your avatar but your username, posts, attachments, and member group are all the same 

4. There was a notice in big red lettering explaining that there was a change coming, you can still see it at oldcc.info 

5. As explained here below you can still access the old site if you want to download old attachments, even though they are all here.

Try hitting enter after pasting the code and giving it a second or two. Or just leave it as a link as Foamy suggested.
