  4. She hasn't been away for any length of time to get rhinoplasty and to recover with bruising and swelling to go down. Recovery timeline First week: You will have a splint on your nose and may experience pain, swelling, and bruising around your eyes. You should rest and avoid blowing or rubbing your nose. You will likely have bandages and a splint, and you'll need to keep your head elevated. Two weeks: Most of the initial bruising and swelling will have subsided, and you may be able to return to most of your normal activities. However, your surgeon will likely advise against strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for up to six weeks. First month: You will start to see a clearer version of your new nose as swelling continues to decrease. You should still avoid strenuous exercise and activities that could cause pressure or injury to your nose.
