Yes, one of the things I admire about the US.

Switching to a wider issue in Europe the rise in populism (or celebrated ignorance if you ask me) is seriously challenging the notion of democracy with its unfortunate side effect. It is has allowed Russia, who thanks to the previous Soviet regimes have expertise in misinformation The West can only dream of, has allowed a large number of East European regimes to start turning to the far right who look to Putin or even if for historical and geographical reasons they are anti-Russia their hatred and suspicions of the other have led them into his clutches. The trigger for this was of course the Syrian crisis and Angela Merkel's ill thought out policy of saying "Come to Germany" echoed by the Swedes forgetting all these people would have to come through these other countries letting the Russian propaganda wreak its havoc. It is clear that most but not all populism is fueled by hatred and/or fear of immigration and by using that to get people to vote for them, the right wing can pile a whole load of other policies which those voters would normally be against on top of that. As this happens Europe fractures and the fascist dictator Putin dances.

Parliamentary Privilege is something I totally agree with. It is used less often than it should be. Sadly in the UK we have absolutely ludicrous libel laws which I have been involved in fighting against. These get used by celebrities to protect themselves in a way they would not be allowed to in the US but much more importantly used by special interest groups, sometimes religious often extreme who sue people trying to tell the truth ... even if they don't succeed the aim of these organisations is to make it very unpleasant for the author who then get involved in sometimes long drawn out court cases attempting to discredit them making it a painful experience they don't want to repeat and giving publicity to these views. With Parliamentary Privilege at least MPs are protected from this rubbish. Another disgraceful part of the UK system is the super injunction. An injunction which stops people giving information about something is one thing but a super injunction bans the reporting of the injunction taking place at all. So for instance if there is some industrial disaster the company can take an injunction out against releasing details of what was responsible for that disaster but you can report that the company took out an injunction leading people then to start asking questions. With a super injunction there is no record whatsoever so people will assume that the company have no responsibility whatsoever. It has been used less seriously once again by celebrities in order to protect themselves except the problem is the court has no jurisdiction outside the UK and thus everyone else in the world knows about it and so therefore does anyone in the UK who really wants to find out ... even though it is then illegal for them to tell anyone and maybe even to look it up in the first place!

So one week after Belle goes they finally put a camera on the terrace where she spent most of her days ... not in some Philadelphia playground ... in the last few weeks of her stay. At least you should get some could pool shots now but it would have been better, if possibly impractical, had they put the second pool cam on the diagonally opposite side of the pool.

This caused some tension between Belle and Blair. The number of times the bell went off and Blair just flat ignored it even when she was dressed and Belle was naked was quite a few and Belle did get angry with her once. Jasmin was also not the best of answering. I still can't explain why the other day Rosie, Serena and Jasmin rang the bell when a naked Belle was drying her hair. She shouted up to them and had to put a towel on while the uniformed Blair was too depressed/lazy to move. She got the curtest of thank yous from Jasmin (which was more than she got from the other 2) after they had hammered on the door as though Belle could actually have got there any quicker from 3 staircases down. I can't believe all 3 of them didn't have a key so was it because they were holding bags and couldn't work out that if they put one down they might have been able to get into their handbags? Whatever, it was odd and as I said I have witnessed Blair ignoring stuff before. Say Belle had still been in the shower, the other 3 might have waited all day. From the description above she might genuinely not have heard it this time. I have seen girls at B2 stay awake late so they could let someone in.

I think it is more that a lack of money is a source of unhappiness. If you are struggling to pay bills, have to think twice about what would you buy, paying for your daughter's birthday party etc. then when you don't it removes a layer of stress from your life. That could be replaced with other stress and then there is also the link to control since salary and control are heavily linked. There's been research to show the less control you have in your job the more stress you are under although you would never believe that from some of the bosses I have had but that's a different issue. As someone as already almost said if wealth brings unhappiness then just give me the opportunity to prove it.

I'm going now because I only watch RLC on Replay since Belle left and besides the weather has suddenly gone cold ... and it's been 80 in London the last few days!!! Good night all.

Of course I was just mentioning how miserable she'd been again, which is OK now she's happy. I just wish she'd been miserable in a different room.

Karol did it perfectly. Guy came in, was very discrete. Didn't hang about in the shared areas more than necessary. Bringing a big suitcase is worrying. I hope Blair is happy now, because her mood over the last couple of weeks wasn't good which was a bit of a pity for Belle. if he stays longer than 3-4 days they can't even ship them off to B3 any more.

I don't believe it either. The fact is before Belle came back and I started posting again on this board to any great extent this board had dipped a lot but in the last couple of months there had been a steady rise. What I can't help is if I post and nobody else posts in 4 hours. Had I posted my comments during a Monica (mainly positive)or Sofie (more negative) shows nobody would have really noticed but as Belle tended to operate outside the peak times then ... Just now for instance I have just posted about 6 times in 20 minutes as many people have but there you go. I have noticed a few people on her who post purely to have a go at Belle and sometimes me. Then I have look at their posts elsewhere and they are usually attacking somebody else.

Wonder if that's the guy who she kept getting upset about on her phone.
