He translated is on her phone and it said beef. (I googled it myself)

She said that's what he had and he didn't seem to believe her.

So either his taste buds are non-existent or she's very bad at cooking steak.

That being said,  I'm pretty sure I could tell if something was steak no matter how bad it was cooked.
