As far as any other curious visitors, they will just have to be more speculative as to what may be some of the reasons.

There are Prayers sent from all over the World. The only thing to do is keep listening to the News and follow any instructions given by Authorities. I don't know about the Wildlife Population but they likely have a sense of knowledge to get away as far as possible from the situation. 3
