These, apparently, are true.

Those with long memories will remember the band 10CC. When they first formed, one of the earliest gigs was in a nightclub, no hits yet. The announcer only had the name written down on a piece of paper.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome a new group - Eyeock". 

 

And when Herman's Hermits first went to America, Peter Noone was pages over the tannoy at the airport with the message - 

"Paging Mr. No One, paging Mr. No One."
