I believe Madison's bf was her bf before RLC.  IIRC, she is from a large city near the front lines since the early days of the invasion.  So he is possibly a member of a territorial defense unit.

There has been more than one RLC participant in Barcelona who became a tenant to help support family in the Ukraine, or in at least one instance, her refugee family in Barcelona.  Alex and Lucien are from an area in eastern Ukraine that was captured early-on by the Russians.  If they had not fled, Lucien likely would have been conscripted into the Russian army and almost certainly become a casualty.  The total number of Russian dead and wounded inn Ukraine is near the total number of British military dead and wounded in World War II.

As Madison's boyfriend has twice visited her in Barcelona, he knows what RLC is all about,  And what has to be done to earn the clicks and bonus money.  Seems to me, if he did not want her doing that, he would have said, 'Leave this place, and come back to Ukraine.'  And she would have had to make a choice.
