I'd love to hear Nora or Diana sing this (though lately I think Diana or Alina could sing it with more conviction). In fact. I'd love to hear Diana Ross sing it in person, but I suspect there's little chance of that. So, here's to Detroit for exporting a fantastic voice to the world...

I was so fucking out of it when this was spinning around one night.  It's funny how you can recall the very thoughts that were in your head back then, as it's been that long since I heard this song.

It's not one of my favorites, but the friends were there, in what seems like a hundred years ago now.

Muzzies Discover Rock ‘n’ Roll

[And] Then He Kicked Me

Well, he walked up to me

And he asked me if I wanted to die

He looked kinda mean

And so I said, "Please don’t make me cry"

Then he lunged, and held me tight

And when he punched my face that night

All his friends had formed a line

So they could kick me

Each time I saw him

I knew he would kick me again

I wanted to tell my dad

But he'd just likely join in

I didn't know just what to do

So I whispered, "Alahu"

But before I could get out the “Akhbar” part

He really kicked me

He kicked me in a place

That I've never been kicked before

He kicked me in the way that

You might kick a dog or a whore

I knew from that time

It was going to get really bad

The very next day he appeared at my home

To beat my mom and my dad

Then he asked me to be his bride

And always be right by his side

I told him that I was only nine

And then he kicked me

Then he asked me to be his bride

And always be right by his side

I told him that I was only nine

And then he kicked me, and then he kicked me

And then he kicked me

Damn, spot-on bro, you just took me back to the Magic Bus in an Indian Reservation where the girls were dying to hang out (and get pregnant) with the Cal dudes just so they could get the fuck outta there. We listened to this song (Sister Morphine and Sweet Virginia, of course) and if you hadn't have posted it, I probably would not have remembered those days so long ago: the smell of the air, the beauty of the countryside, or the sound of the Indian maiden's sexy voice asking me for some money because her welfare check hadn't shown up yet. Alas, poor little Squirrel was broke as usual, but she was happy to inhale herbs from Squirrel's kitchen.

And we also listened to this:

"Creep"

When you were here before

Couldn't look you in the eye

You're just like an angel

Your skin makes me cry

You float like a feather

In a beautiful world

I wish I was special

You're so fucking* special

But I'm a creep

I'm a weirdo

What the hell am I doing here?

I don't belong here

I don't care if it hurts

I wanna have control

I want a perfect body

I want a perfect soul

I want you to notice

When I'm not around

You're so fucking special

I wish I was special

But I'm a creep

I'm a weirdo

What the hell am I doing here?

I don't belong here

She's running out the door

She's running out

She run run run run...

Run...

Whatever makes you happy

Whatever you want

You're so fucking special

I wish I was special

But I'm a creep

I'm a weirdo

What the hell am I doing here?

I don't belong here

I don't belong here
