Most British people do not hate the monarchy at all. Less than 20% want a republic. However many of us are united in the dislike of pretty much all of the Queen's children and their various spouses, which is pretty deserved I must say. William and Kate are still in a period of grace with the public and the press. There's a lot of respect for the military service that him and is brother did and generally he and she seem like pretty well rounded (for people born with a silver spoon in their mouths) people, so they would have to fuck up quite literally royally in order for the mood to turn against them. The Queen does not rule by royal decree or issue edicts that our parliament must carry out, the UK is a democracy and we have a king or queen as our head of state, somebody that represents the tradition and history of the nation in a physical form. I understand that in the US that veneration is given to your flag, fair enough, its the same kind of sentiment but I've grown up with and rather got used to and respect that sentiment taking the form of a person.

Hopefully we'll support them with a huge coalition of NATO and say Australian forces that will go over the and exterminate the extremists. Fuck it, if that means a war of conquest in which we own Syria and Iraq until extremism has been educated out of it, then so be it. The oil there will pay for the military action but If we were to try to exterminate Islam on a global scale, well that would go nuclear in no time at all. We need the rapid reaction force that NATO has just agreed to do its job by stamping upon any Islamic extremists that rear their heads in any nation until Muslims the world over get the message that they should get along with everyone else in the world or suffer the consequences.

I don't get why some people think that we should just let the muslims fight amongst themselves as if they are not a threat to the west. If this so called caliphate succeeds in its goal then they will eradicate Iraq and Syria and become its own state with billions in oil.
