I could guess that if you wanted the couch against the wall, and the guests that are sitting on the couch to have access to the table without constantly getting up, then the table position sorta sets itself.

As I look at the apartment of B & R, I am struck by how small it is. Entrance, LR, BR, kitchen, bathroom. I would say about 500 sq ft maximum. It is spotlessly clean, though, and I know there is worse, but I don't think I would want to live there.
