Nina & Kira (2020) Part #4
sturmchaser replied to West_California's topic in Nina & Kira - (08/20/19 - 07/24/24)
Indeed, and also the lack of clothes dryers and the prevalence of the "drying racks" that nearly everyone has in their apts was what struck me the most odd at first. In America we have a washer and a dryer. Some here use drying racks for wool sweaters or shrink-prone clothing, and even I use the traditional outside clothes line from time to time for large linens like bed spreads and such, but for the most part, the clothes dryer is an essential component. But in Euro it doesn't seem so - N&K dry everything - shirts, pants, socks, underwear - on those racks, unless they have a dryer somewhere I haven't seen. Energy efficient of course, but tedious. The only dryer I have ever seen was at Eva & Sam's apt back at RLC, they had one of those stackables, washer on top, dryer on the bottom, of course, in their cramped bathroom. If I had to rely on drying racks to dry my heavy duty Carhartt work clothes, I'd have to drive nekkid some days. Nobody wants that. -

Welcome back, sir! Glad that it was me who brought you out of the shadows LOL! And of course it would be you, with your specific set of expert credentials, to explain what should have been obvious to me! However, I still say they could've removed the slide-out spice drawer to the left of the range and given at least an extra 4 to 5 inches to the right of the sink. I dunno, I just don't like a cramped sink space. Not that I'm going to move into a Russian apartment anytime soon. Well... with one exception 😁 -

Wasn't directed toward you specifically, my friend, just the group here in general. EVERYbody freaks out (even me) when we see Kira upset. It's like something must be seriously wrong in the Universe. And some might misinterpret Nina "shouting" at Kira, but that's just how Nina is when she is trying to make a point - she is loud and aggressive. Kira knows this and is used to it. It's like the joke we have here in America - to properly speak German, you have to sound angry! ACHTUNG! SCHNELL! (apologies to my Deutsch freunds LOL). I have gotten used to it over the years, and realize Nina isn't being a bitch, that's just how she debates (I for one would not like to debate her on a stage over any topic LOL). -

Here in America, today is Mother's Day, a day which we celebrate and honor our mothers or otherwise family matriarchs for bringing us into this world and putting up with our shit. Hardest job in the world, in my opinion. Alas, my mother has long since passed on, but I still put flowers on her grave today. I wonder though, do they celebrate such a day in Russia? Probably, but not on the same day, the Russians tend to celebrate most holidays about a week after America (Christmas, Easter, etc). But maybe this is part of the reason for Kira being upset. She can't be with her mother, like Nina got to be on Papa's birthday. I don't know, anything is possible. Anyway, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you mother truckers out there! 😁 -

I'm going to try and stay positive here, and say I think some might be reading a bit too much into this. Remember, Kira went through a brief emotional breakdown some months ago. It was finally learned that it was reaction to the hormonal pills she was taking. It's possible this is happening again, which is why Nina appears unconcerned, and actually gives her a "pep" talk in the bedroom. I watched the replay from 1700 on, and there is no animosity from Kira toward Nina, Kira is simply upset. I don't know about you guys, but in my 50 years of experience with women, I know they can get emotional at the drop of a hat, over the smallest things. Normally our Kira is stoic and resilient, but even she can break down at times, and should be allowed to. Plus, altho I have no evidence, it could be "that special time" when Aunt Flow comes to visit, and again, in my experience, this can be a very emotional period. So to speak. So give her a little break. We're watching normal life play out here, not a show. Things will return to normal in due time. And as far as sorting their problems out once and for all? Never gonna happen. Do any of you know ANY couple who has ever sorted their problems out once and for all? Life, especially with the one you love the most, is never going to be unicorns and rainbows, ever. The beautiful thing is that when one goes down, the other can pick them up. Such is the case with our heroines. 😇 -

Zipping through the timeline tonight, it seemed like a slightly strained evening. They were selecting pics for the photo album, then Kira seemed to get a little upset, Nina comforting. Both are restless in bed at 0400. In other news, if their quarantine does not lift soon, I'm afraid that they will run out of things to watch on Netflix! -
Ooops, I didn't know, interesting. Sorry. Did I commit a fox pass? Foe paw? Faux pas?

I don't normally chime in on these General Discussion public forums, but after reading the recent fantastically droll posts from the sublimely sardonic Squirrel, I must contribute to the poll with a Yes. However, those who know me know that I subscribe to VH for two reasons, and two reasons only. If those reasons were to ever decide to abandon the voyeur life, it would also be buh-bye for me - I would have no reason to stick around. In contrast to the original question, if I ever did have to check out of VH, would I still hang out at CC? Yes, because I have formed friendships with many select members from across the globe. Quite unique. The same happened over at RLC, when my two main reasons were still there, before the Russian Purge and my interests emigrated to VH. I had formed a lot of good friendships with [discussed.cc] members, and feel kind of bad for abandoning them. Sorry guys! But I have to follow my main brain vein. I'm sure they understand. 😉

I am intrigued at what book my baby girl has been intensely reading for many nights now. It looks thick. Shame I can't see the cover. Not that I could translate it anyway. Such a well-rounded, disciplined, educated woman. *sigh* 🥰 -

Ugh! I don't know why my post showed three of the same pics of the kitchen, but I think I have it edited correctly now. JHC, you'd think after 5+ years of posting pics, I'd have a clue by now. 🙄 And I ain't even been drinkerin, I swears! -

It's very curious to me how, apparently, Russian apartments place the kitchen sink in such awkward locations. As you can see, the sink is jammed up against the wall, barely enough room for a bottle of dish liquid on the right! The sink in the previous apt was awkward also. The sink in the old RLC apt was better placed, but the rest of the kitchen sucked. They didn't even have an oven. It's almost like the sink - a primary part of any kitchen - was an afterthought. My double sink is in the middle of my U-shaped kitchen, with a window for a view. Granted, I understand that I have 10 times the square footage of kitchen space than they do, but dang, are apartment kitchens in Russia that awkward? The former Angel/Odri had a decent kitchen with the sink in the middle, which is why I was hoping they would choose that apt when they moved. Oh well. With as much time as Kira spends in the kitchen, I want her to be comfortable. Just for perspective, here is a shot of my kitchen. The sink is strategically placed. Just disregard the snowbunny in the 2nd pic 😉 🐇 Oh and BTW, it "sounds" like they fixed the SCREECH of the refrigerator door, thank goodness! -

Not only did poor Kira have to cook this meal, she has to clean up after as well. ☹️ I think Mama Nina came out and helped eventually. -

I can't really weigh in on the rock-n-roll discussion, since I listen to Country music 90% of the time (altho I will say 80s hair bands were some of the best music). However, I will chime in on this: Indeed, I will take one order of left cheek, one order of right cheek, and one order of that exquisite tenderloin in between. 😛 Seriously though, I love Russian cuisine, particularly borscht, but sadly I find very little out here where I live. A few years back I convinced one proprietor of a c&p in Fredneckburg, who is of Polish descent, to make some authentic borscht for me the next time I came through. She did it just for me, extra heavy on the beets, and it was perfect, esp in the middle of January. It actually became a hit with regulars, so it's permanently on the menu. Beet soup - it's a lot better than it sounds, esp when made by someone who knows what they are doing. It will warm you up on a frigid winter night. Russian cooking indeed. -

Oh fine, go ahead, BLAME IT ON THE USA! I'm grounded tonight due to a high wind advisory preventing me from driving. Soooo, what do I have left? I'm watching my black silk haired angel sleep on cam-7 at 0530 (it's only 2230 here in Murica). 😁 😍 💤 -

I think Hairball is dead. Several days ago, Nina tried to perform surgery on him, but all to naught. RIP Hairball. $1000000 rubles down the drain. -

Here's another funny thing for tonight! WHY bother sending tickets in? It leads to no resolution. But I do it just to be an annoying asshole. I just can't stand it when supposed "support" from any organization, let alone VHTV, sends me canned responses over and over. I guess the chimpanzee in charge can only punch one button. -

This was an excellent cap, well done and thank you. I would have totally missed it in replay. Nina's Engrish is coming along very well, I completely understood her. And the little spank she got from Kira and the spatula - nice! -
