    In general, women don't take selfies because they are narcissists! Most of the time it's so that they can see how they look and also to have record of it for themselves and to share with friends. They aren't taking them thinking about how they are the center of the universe. Just trying to see how good looking they can be for their own interest and the interest of others. For most women it just fun.
