I haven't heard enough music from each period to say for sure, but for now I'd have to say the Romantic period.

That would also depend on the composers, the instuments the music was composed for and the years or era of composition.

Mozart is best known for very powerful piano concertos. Very little that he composed is quiet and romantic.
