Foamy T. Squirrel
DID YOU KNOW: On this day in history, a man named Princip shot Archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevo, lighting a spark to an already huge powder keg, and all hell ensued, and we're still cleaning up the resultant mess. Ozi
This is an awesome thread. Gonna wear this one out! Did you know that an unknown Australian soldier from Delta Company, 2nd Commando Regiment now holds the world record for a confirmed kill shot, taking out an Al Qaeda terrorist at 2,815 m (3,079 yd) using an American .50 cal Barrett M82 rifle in Afghanistan. This breaks the old record of 2,475 m (2,707 yd) record held by Craig Harrison using a British L115A3 Long Range Rifle. Great example of Australian tenacity and American ingenuity at its best. TBG 150
The credit should go to the men that calculate wind speed, density, drop on the bullet per foot/yard. The sniper getting all the credit just follows the co-ordinance and squeezes the trigger.

The sniper getting all the credit just follows the co-ordinance and squeezes the trigger. Yeah but what a squeeze! One steady hand and eye, at that distance even out by a whisker will miss the target by metres. Everyone gets the benefit of the data but few are capable of taking making the shot. TBG 150
'Nuff said there Ozi. I stand corrected. If it was a good kill, we all take the credit. Miss by that whisker and we all get the boot up our asses.

Good point that I forgot to mention, the Brit took out two machine gunners consecutively, with a .338 Lapua Magnum, once in a life time shot twice within a few seconds. Smaller, cheaper round, much better bang for your buck. Either way, Brit or Yank, we took it off the Canadians, so it's not all bad.

Foamy T. Squirrel
Canucks are only good at Moose. The rest are Frogs (French Canadians) that are scared of their own shadow. Good. Maybe we'll work this into a thread about people who have been protected; or population; or demographics. Our friends in the Great White North could not field a force necessary to thwart a Soviet invasion; we helped them with this task. The population of California is substantially higher than the northern clime; and right now California is full of idiots. Still, in WWII, Canadians did what they could with a large loss of life while FDR stood by. Aussies don't put up shit. They've got a whole continent to themselves, no big amount of protection, but too many of them are by nature descended from a bunch of pissed-off Scots. And now days, even less of a population to draw recruits from than has Canada. I met a beautiful woman once. She was young. She was fit. She was a medical professional. I loved her, we all drooled over her, but she made me hurt. She was a physical therapist, and she worked me hard, and one day, because of her knowledge, skills, and orders, I regained absolutely full use of a badly shattered wrist. She could break down any weapon, clean it, and be ready to fire it in 30 seconds, and spoke 5 languages. She had been a sergeant in the IDF. Just to remind you, they have little land, are surrounded by people who want them dead, have a democracy, and a high proportion of very excellent and educated young people. Some people use adversity and their victimization as an excuse for their behavior. Some people don't. I respect the people who don't.
TBG 150
I used to watch a woman such as you describe on TV at one time. Though a gorgeous South American with a body to absolutely salivate over, she played an Israeli. Ziva David.
