To support a government in its decision to start blaming people rather than owning the problem is not the way forward. It sounds to me like the Aussie PM was looking for a quick boost in the opinion polls by way of a sound bite just like the UK gov at the minute. I agree with you that the benefits system is fucked, it costs too much money, it's badly managed and encourages cheats, I'd vote for almost any party that had a mandate to clean it up for the benefit of the whole nation, rather than focus on the haves. It has to begin at the bottom with the unemployed and less better off and the undereducated - raise them up and everyone will be better off. And no I don't mean support the law breakers and the social cretins, I mean clean up the places that these people develop, don't give them a foothold. Almost every nation prints money now, it's 'kin ridiculous!! Print money to pay for the poor who haven't got jobs meanwhile not investing real money in infrastructure to create jobs and wealth. Muslims get offended at everything that is ever spoken about them. Socialists continue to believe everyone is equal and everyone is of equal worth in society. Not true of course but why let the truth get in the way of controlling the masses. Benefits were meant to be a safety net not a cosy cushion for life. Business needs to be let loose to grow and create wealth. Taxes need to be reduced to no greater than a third of peoples income. Why the fuck should over 50% of anyone's income be taken by the government so they can piss it up the wall giving hand outs to every so called worthy group. Small government, low taxes and freedom creates wealth that can spread to everyone. Big government and the politics of envy destroys peoples lives and inevitably leads to a Big Brother society. The EU is a monster of big government, undemocratic and massive wasters of OUR money. The UK needs to tell Brussels to fuck off into their Euro bankrupt land and let us and the US happily progress Anglo-Saxon Capitalism. And to all those who think our Euro friends will impose huge tariffs against the UK if we leave just ask the Germans and French who sell us more cars and goods than we sell them are likely to do such a thing. No chance! We have huge oil reserves, our country is virtually made of coal and gas. Our seas are full of fish (if we stop the mad Spanish from factory fishing). We have the biggest stock market in the world next to the US and have a greater capacity for invention than most of the world. Imagine an English only speaking trading block - the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa - it would be the richest in the world. A trading block of civilised human beings who know right from wrong and live by the rule of commercial law. Bliss! Tell the others to fuck off! Oh but then they might be 'offended' and get all upset. Now do not get me wrong, as I reside in South Africa and would love for what you say about us to be true, and yes the richest part I would also agree upon as we have huge gold, diamond and countless other reserves. However for the civilised part I have to dis agree as the majority in our country do not fall with in this bracket be it either due to poor education or just plain pigheadedness to change. Plus the corruption within our government is rife which is prolonging any meaningful advancements towards a better future in this country. I fear that South Africa is destined to go the way of most of our neighboring countries, which will be a sad day for all. So bring back the governess of the common wealth over my amazingly beautiful country and arrest us from our downward spiral so that we may fit into the Vision of "Van the Man". van the man Posted April 1, 2014 Share Posted April 1, 2014 I do agree with you about South Africa. Now that Mandela has gone his beloved country is destined to be the new Zimbabwe. From what I hear Zuma is a first class crank. The country will become lawless. A racial war could easily start but unlike Zimbabwe the whites will not go quietly! My sister spends 3 months of the year around the Cape and says it is the most beautiful place on earth. If only it would stay that way. I do think the whole of Africa could do with good old fashioned colonial rule but I was afraid to say! All the charity and aid we give to Africa is sadly wasted and simply compounds the problem. Good governance is what has been missing. Tinpot dictators have been allowed to literally get away with murder. We need to wipe them out and install new government. To think that the UK used to run India with only 13 civil servants. It wouldn't take too long to sort out Africa!!! Africa is the continent God forgot. Maybe we can save it before it is too late! The level of corruption here since our current President as been in power has doubled, even to the point where he himself has spent over 200 million Rand on up grades to his private home under the pretense that it was all for security purposes. Your British passport probably a good back-up plan, but a decent rifle is a must in any survival kit.
