In Canada we have the Rent Review Control Board which keeps rogue Landlords in their place where they can only increase their rents by 4% a year and they must give the Tenant 90 Days written notice of any increase. If a Tenant of the premises decides to move the next one too move in should only see an increase of 4%. This stops Landlords from increasing rents to absurd prices just for greed.
