Nick
The July 4th holiday is a favorite time of year for many Americans. Backyard parties, good food, and fireworks. But the celebrating unfortunately turns deadly when people drive after drinking alcohol. Drunk driving is a preventable problem on the Fourth of July each year in the United States. In 2012, there were 179 people killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes over the Fourth of July holiday (6 p.m. July 3 through 5:59 a.m. July 5). Of those fatalities, 78 (44%) occurred in crashes that involved at least one driver or motorcycle operator with a BAC of .08 or higher.
Guest ww_watcher
Same to you...all. I am having a backyard campfire but always set out a bucket for keys which my son, who doesn't drink, will be guarding with his 270 lbs 6'2" bulk. Luckily we have beds and space for those who get rejected. House rules - no exceptions. So far, in the past, only one chose not to respect the rule and he won't be returning. It's a good rule, most don't tempt fate; the rest abide my son's ruling on their sobriety. He will also call a cab if you just have to sleep in your own bed. Sometimes I have to spring for the fare but it's better than the alternative.

TBG 150
These brain dead idiots shoot off fireworks a week before and a week after the 4th. What get's me, is if asked, they have no clue what the date represents. Why should they? None of them are Americans. But I do love reading the local fishwrapper about fingers blown off, arms that have the skin ripped off of them, eyes burned out, roofs (or is it rooves?) that catch fire when the remains drop out of the sky, etc... The moronic masses in action. And I have to burn up food in my cars while these idiots put out more toxins into the air in one night than the entire countries motoring public does in a week. Plus the mess that they leave in the streets.

Please do us the favor of starting a thread at Old Dude's. I realize some of your stories must be difficult to tell; but they would be most instructive to those of use who have not served our fellows in such a dangerous and arduous profession, and your stories might save some lives. Thank you for your service to humanity, sir.
