StnCld316 Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 There is new forum software in the works. Invision Community Version 5. There are quite a few changes to the software. Some of the feature changes are listed below. There is a lot more but too numerous in length to describe them. The software is in the testing stages or some may know as Beta Stages. Which gets all the issues ironed out before it's official release. It was stated sometime in early 2024 so hoping the timeline holds true. 1. The Homepage has been removed and it features have been implemented into a sidebar on the right side of the forum page. 2. The Tabs at the top of the page have also been placed into a sidebar on the left side of the forum page. There will be an option if one wishes the tabs to still be at the top of the page it will have a function one can make to change that. It should also be more user friendly for ones that use handheld devices. 3. Finally Cam Caps.net will have a Dark Mode feature. This will be a blessing for most where the white screen is just too hard on the eyes especially for older folks with vision impairments, Dark Mode will help them a lot. Here is a partial Video of some of the things that will take place. It's not complete showing all the changes as there are more in the works. It kind of gives a heads up instead of not knowing what the changes will be until the software is released. Once more changes are made a more descriptive video will be added. Quote
StnCld316 Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 The new forum software seems to be in the final Alpha-beta stages. It should not be much longer. Quote
TBG 150 Posted May 5, 2024 Posted May 5, 2024 Uh-huh, sure. And how long have we been hearing this now? The only thing coming is the girl in the GIF when her hand is in her pants! 😆 2 Quote
StnCld316 Posted August 19, 2024 Author Posted August 19, 2024 New feature added to the new forum software version 5 is the signing in process to the forum. Instead of signing in with a Username and Password all that will be needed now is signing in using an e-Mail address. Quote
TBG 150 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 And what will be displayed as a forum handle? What we currently use? Because if an email address is displayed, you will lose 95% of your membership instantly. Quote

New accounts will make a username as it's done now. Then when they sign in again it will need to be signed in with an e-Mail address and not the username. The e-Mail address will not be visible to anyone except to the person signing in. They claim it's a more secure process. 1 Quote
StnCld316 Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 I have just reviewed the Invision website and observed that the Alpha phase for Version 5 of the forum software has concluded, and the Beta phase is beginning. It is indicated that if the current pace is maintained, the Beta phase will be short. I will periodically check its progress, which will provide me with a clearer idea of when the official Release Candidate (RC) will be released mainstream. 1 Quote
StnCld316 Posted October 21, 2024 Author Posted October 21, 2024 Heading down the homestretch. Getting the remaining bugs banged out. 1 Quote
StnCld316 Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 I recently had a coversation with a Software Developer from the Invision Team who informed me that the official release is slated for the first quarter of 2025, which means it could be launched anytime between January and March. The team is currently focused on resolving the remaining bugs in the software. I keep up with Invision's updates on a weekly basis and will share any new information regarding a more precise release timeline as it becomes available. It is anticipated that the new software will introduce numerous enhancements, although some of the currently used features may become obsolete. 1 1 Quote
StnCld316 Posted Tuesday at 10:54 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 10:54 PM Great news! Version 5 has finally arrived. I will inform the Admin as soon as I see it on the dashboard. A brand new user experience is designed for all, from desktop to mobile, with a fast and modern interface that will look and perform better. There will be many more options where users can set up their own page layout, colors, font sizes, etc. The editor has many new features where one can do many things without needing any experience or coding skills. Some features are being deprecated, such as the homepage. Certain statistics may not be available after the upgrade, so we will need to see what remains and what has been removed once it has been installed. The features installed will include Dark Mode, Theme Editor, Tagging, among many others too numerous to mention. As with most software upgrades, certain features from the old software will no longer be available. This is simply a consequence of technological advancement that we must accept. Below are examples of a few features; I could list more, but that would detract from the enjoyment of discovering them for oneself. Therefore, I will leave the rest for others to explore as they navigate the new interface. As with any major software upgrade, there will be some downtime for CamCaps.net. Depending on the size of the file, it could take an hour or more to set up and configure the settings. When making changes to the editor or any settings, it is important to ensure that your settings are saved. If you use software that cleans your cookies, temporary files, history, etc., make sure to configure it not to delete the cookie for CamCaps.net. This will ensure that your settings remain the same after each login. If the cookie is deleted, you will have to reconfigure everything again when you sign in. It is crucial for all current account holders to read this important update regarding the sign-in process. Logging in will no longer require a username and password. Instead, you will only need to sign in with the registered e-Mail address associated with your Cam Caps Account. Dark Mode Editor colors.mp4.mp4 Quote
