woodworker
A Fish in the Flood So now it's down to that craggy bog again to play with that rabid dog again And all that seeps within~ Perfect love and perfect sin Ah yes my gate swings both ways my love~ With words that hold great sway my dove But I have had too much~ Like a fish in the flood Too many disappointments~ Too many poisonous ointments Too many lies~ deceits~ betrayals~ defeats I have had too much my love For me anyway, there was only one girl that ever finally convinced me of her love, and I only hope, though far away she may be, that she will still hold those same thoughts as she did once of me. woodworker
I like a lot of that old time country music very much. It often reminds me of people sitting there on the farm porch watching an orange sunset. That actually happened for me once when I was around six. Someone related to my family had a farm there in Michigan, and we had one of those famous country style dinners, right down to the corn on the cob. And then everyone just sort of migrated to the porch. There was the smell of pipe tobacco, and quiet talk. And the white porch turned orange as the sun began to melt into the ground. Then came the lightning bugs, and a sense of quietude that you can't really explain to someone else who never left the city. It's funny what will stick to a kid's memory about certain things. It's nice to see that some of the new Country Singers coming into the business still carry on the tunes of years gone by. I was brought up listening to that music and I still listen to it today. The old tunes never die.
woodworker
No, they don't. Good music shows no wrinkles, and is never far from the heart. And your right, It is good to see 'some' new singers who still appreciate the great songs of the past.
woodworker
This one came out in the year I was born. I think my mom might have heard me humming it once while I was in the cradle. I was still too young to actually sing it yet, without a lot of spit bubbles coming out. Can you imagine, while still being confined to a cradle a baby boy singing about being a ramblin man? Why that's the kind of thing that would put fear into any parent. "Oh no!,.. I think the beast has just been born." :yikes:
Foamy T. Squirrel
Just a documentary. Some songs. Introduced "country" to a lot of city people that otherwise did not understand it.
