I figure I'll throw in my 2 cents and share what i use for capturing.
for Audio only i use Audacity. http://audacityteam.org/ it is by far the best free audio editor on the market. I only use this when the action is going on in the bedrooms or anywhere that I can't directly see what's going on.
for Video I use OBS(short for Open Broadcaster Software). https://obsproject.com/
Those of you who are heavy into gaming will know that this is the program of choice for people that stream on Twitch, but it is also a great standalone video recorder!
There are plenty of videos on Youtube for setting this up; I'm not really the best at giving full blown tutorials lol.
There IS one very important tip I want to pass along though for those that want to capture but can't get any sound: In whatever software you use to capture video (or audio), ALWAYS set your audio input device to STEREO MIX! This is very important as it will turn your microphones off, and it will record ONLY the sounds coming directly from your computer.
