Terrorist Attacks in France
Foamy T. Squirrel replied to itsme's topic in Worldwide Political Discussions
I only read the book, which didn't come with much in the way of accents. There weren't any cute girls or romantic interests, just a really pissed off Mahdi and a general that the politicians hung out to dry. -
Yes, our trusted friend, the humble but handy pizza box. Been a fixture here at CamCaps for years. We're especially fond of the ones with the big phone numbers on them...

Terrorist Attacks in France

Read about the fate of Chinese Gordon. -
Actually, the US had nothing to do with Nanking. Or Czechoslovakia. That was none of our concern. Neither was Poland or France. It wasn't until some jackasses blew the shit out of our Pacific Fleet that the US decided to add combat forces to help the "Mother Country" in their fight against Japan's Nazi ally. And the Brits and their Empire certainly proved their worth in the Pacific Theater. And though it took years, the Brits paid us back. They didn't get the Marshall plan. Dude, I'm a Libertarian. I don't like the US being the world police any more than you do. But liberty must be protected. And you can't do that by protecting savages that want to kill you.

How true these words are...

I'm talking about the works of John Locke here, not Karl Marx. -
As we cowboys say in America, "Yep." It's home to a big port city and former gulag. Nice downtown, with nice architecture. There's also a KFC there, so they can get fried chicken. Nice higher center of learning across the river, too. If you can snuggle up with Leora or Maya at night, you'll find Siberia isn't so bad after all . . .

From my understanding of TxFeller's post, it appears that the sovereign powers of a nation should not be able to exert their rights to enforce their power. -
Nanking? Not our concern. Rhineland? Not our concern. Sudetenland or Czechoslovakia? Not our concern. Poland? Not our concern. Denmark? Not our concern. Belgium & Netherlands? Not our concern. France? Not our concern. (Yeah, I got the picture.)

Thoughts for the day Split #3

When I was a kid, we had more A-bomb drills in grade school than we did fire-drills. God bless the kid who was given the "honorable" job of being the curtain monitor, while we ducked and covered under our desks. We grew up with a certain knowledge that "Boy and His Dog" by Harlan Ellison was a very real possibility should the Soviets launch. Now days, I do not worry about my Russian friends. We have other common enemies, none of which hold human life as valuable. -
RLC response speed
Foamy T. Squirrel replied to a topic in Technical and Computer Related Discussions
I'm running Win7 Professional, but am still holding off on the upgrade. As for Ubuntu Linux, be aware that Mozilla is open source (good) but no longer can support streams on RLC (bad) without enhancements. That requires a license and some heavy-duty tweaking to the respositories. Chrome works fine for everything on Ubuntu (Google paid the licensing fees). In fact, Google is extremely Ubuntu friendly with all of it's products, including Google Earth, which runs quite cleanly and faster than it does on my Win installation machines. Personally, I need a bigger drive, a faster video board, and a modern processor in order to get a maximum advantage from Win10. Even then, I'll probably go for a dual boot Win10/Linux set-up. So I'm iffy on upgrading my current machines until I hear some better reviews from you folks. Until then, I just want you to know that my Amiga system still boots, ready to multi-task, in about 4 seconds; the games still work great, and it doesn't have the disadvantage of Internet access! What's not to love about that?! :hugnkiss: -

Reposez-vous bien, mon ami. Parce que demain, et dans les jours, semaines, mois et années suivantes, il ya beaucoup de travail qui doit être fait. Vive la France, et à long civilisation occidentale en direct. Damn, I hope that translates properly. :-\ -
Terrorist Attacks in France
Foamy T. Squirrel replied to itsme's topic in Worldwide Political Discussions
Actually, we didn't create this monster in the middle east. It's been there for thousands of years; it's in the cultural DNA of people who know only of war lords. It would be screwed up with or without us. We'd just simply be better off letting them destroy themselves. -
TBG and I are old. We remember 9/11. We remember when VJ and VE Days were printed on yearly calendars and listed as national holidays. We remember when Saigon fell. We remember when Iran took Americans as hostages and Carter did nothing. Our fathers walked out of Chosin and destroyed a communist Chinese army along the way. We don't remember when the US Congress had the guts to Declare War, and we don't remember when the United States won a war. We weren't born yet. So don't call us "Cowboys" about this. The six-gun in the Wild West established law, and it's time to think about this tool now. Diplomacy and the Ideology of Pacifism alone will not work with this enemy. I think we all agree about this now.

Smart people don't brandish their weapons and draw red lines when confronted by an enemy. They empty the fucking clip.

@ Joeybaggs: Active, disabled, or dead, you shall always be a US Marine worthy of my utmost respect and the respect of others. Thank you for your service to our Republic. -
People get upset when they are attacked. Languages do not always translate well. Outbursts of emotional thought are common, and to be expected. Languages do not always translate well. As on 11 Sep. 2001, I believe we are once again united in our thoughts. Mourn for our dead today. Then kill the enemy tomorrow.

Terrorist Attacks in France

Respecting your right to your religious beliefs as a human individual is contingent upon you respecting the rights of other individuals. I have worked with many Muslims here in America, and I have the utmost respect for them, their demeanor and skills. No doubt the majority of refugees flocking to Europe are good, decent kind people who have no religious problem with abiding with common civil laws. Many of my ancestors came to America in the 1600's with muskets and swords at their backs, and it was because of their religion. Once here, they quickly learned that religious bigotry was useless here: they needed diverse people in order to survive. Here, religious diversity was tolerated, and when the founders wrote the Constitution, the right to choose a religion became the sole jurisdiction of the individual, not the state, nor a pope, or another human. It works. North America was a refuge from the horrible religious wars of Europe. I have no problems with Islam. I don't like the preponderance of circular reasoning in the Koran (my version of logic is in the Western Civilization's use of Ancient Greek logic), but as long as they don't want to kill others (gee, I'm more Christian than I thought!) and want to live their lives, I'm cool with that. Kill the fucking terrorists and those who support them. Dump the weakness and mercy crap: they don't understand it and don't respect it. They don't believe individuals have any rights; they follow who ever has the most force, and the more violent, the better. Such war-lord thinking is barbaric, non-productive, does not contribute to the survival of our species, and should be discarded by effective means. Meaning, conquer them. -
Terrorist Attacks in France

Google translate doesn't work with these people. Neither does the Bing translator. Neither does diplomacy. As far as terrorists are concerned, in the hay-days of the British Empire, insurgents were lashed to a cannon and blown apart IN PUBLIC. It was messy, but they got the message. The Brits knew how to speak the language of the these people. We unfortunately want to "win" the hearts and minds of these people, when we should be conquering their will to resist instead. -
Not everyone knows about this situation. I do. And no one here is going to get banned. I expect people to be mad, shocked, or confused. Tomorrow, I expect them all to be united. --- Pas tout le monde sait à propos de cette situation. Je fais. Et personne ici ne va être banni. Je pense que les gens soient en colère, choqué, ou confus. Demain, je attendre qu'ils soient tous unis. Link to English language newsfeed: http://news.yahoo.com/live-blog-fatalities-reported-after-explosion-shootout-in-paris-214128710.html

Most people join RLC and get a "trial" run, to see if they feel comfortable with it. Probably, they weren't. I certainly wouldn't be comfortable with the project. (Unless I was in management. That's a hint for you, Zeke, ol' boy!) It's likely, however, that she was one of the most kind, sensible, and normal women out of the whole bunch. -

1) I will discuss this payment problem with other moderators and admins. I am sorry for your frustration. I believe that $12 USD is not a huge price to cover CamCaps' bandwidth demands; but international payment methods can be complex and confusing. 2) Moon Walker has been with us since April 2013. That makes him a veteran; we must treat his posts with respect. He's not begging here. He is expressing frustration. 3) As for "karma," at least 50% of CC mods consider it to be a useless concept, to the point where TBG and myself risked our life, liberty and family fortunes to participate in the karma games. We worked very hard to establish our street cred by accumulating negative karma, and we're very proud of our accomplishments. 8) :lmao: PS. I have always liked the name Sara. I hope she has a nice stay in beautiful downtown Barcelona. :D -
This is a serious situation, but easily solved, without needing to call in a professional squirrel. I would suggest you plug in your charger into her proper receptacle. If it's rusty, you might have to lubricate it a bit, or shove it in-and-out until you have a satisfying connection. Birds will look at your butt, think you're a scary scarecrow, and back off immediately. That should take care of the problem. And don't be afraid to post hi-rez pictures of your procedures at CamCaps; it could help other members fix their problems. A sound video with well-focused details of the work scene would be highly appreciated. :D

Tomorrow they're gonna split up.
Foamy T. Squirrel replied to NightLiner's topic in Carla & Mario (07/17/15 - 05/12/16)
The guest chick is generating traffic for RLC. I suppose we should let this ride. But yes, if they leave tomorrow or next week, we'll just roll with whatever. We have no choice, and little squirrel really can't discern what their relationship entails. And he probably doesn't want to...
