The cams probably have a backup battery and onboard storage or so

The cameras have some battery I think that will last for a while in case of power loss.

A UPS can run 300 Watts worth of equipment for around four minutes. Even if you can get the load down closer to 150 Watts - perhaps enough to run one PC, a monitor and a some networking gear, you might be lucky to get around 10 - 12 minutes before the UPS runs flat.

And what about batteries? The outage occurred more than 20 minutes ago already and the cams are still on. Can't batteries run for some hours?
