Wrong. I supported and support Trump because of his policies that made life much better for working and middle class Americans. Trump was the first president since Ronald Reagan who followed through on his campaign promises. If Trump had not delivered on those promises I would have abandoned him. All the stuff that goes on between Trump, the news media and his political rivals is just unimportant noise to me. I look beyond all that and evaluate policies advocated for and implemented by Trump when he was president.  Actually, the food fights that take place among Trump and his opponents is rather entertaining to me. Most other people in American politics are so boring and so predictable.

Everything he promised was pure BS and was played for his supporters.  He promised the a better deal for the auto industry and made a bunch of threats on camera....the agreement is pretty much the same (he specifically threatened the 100 year old GM Oshawa car assembly plant), it's still open BTW.

He went after the Canadian aluminum industry like a fucking idiot.  There is only one or two aluminum smelters in the US and they will never be competitive...BEEEECAUSE it takes a fuckload of electricity to make aluminum.  Quebec has a shitload of cheap hydro electric power, so yeah they are still making aluminum there.  But hey it played well for headlines and one state.

Along with Boeing, he tried to shitcan the Bombardier C-Series jet by slapping tariffs on it after Delta placed an order for them.  (See...Boeing doesn't like competition...but they love the subsidies that they get from US military contracts.)  Anyway...Bombardier sold the program to Airbus for a dollar, set up a final assembly line in Alabama to make the Delta order (the wings and fuselage is shipped to Alabama from Montreal for assembly)  and is now selling a shit ton of that jet around the world...now called the A-220.

Oh and the butter milk saga...gotta speak up for those farmers who vote in that important state of Wisconsin.  Canada controls the production and sale of dairy products through a marketing board.  Canada does not export dairy products at all.  But it turns out that farmers in Wisconsin are going out of business because they cant sell their their milk, cheese and butter in Canada.  I kid you not, a country with a population less than the state of California is vital to the survival of Wisconsin dairy farmers...at least according to Trump.  In any event...he failed again...we still can't buy US produced dairy products.

In the end, it was easier to go after Canada than China and Mexico...mostly because those countries have off the charts cheep labor that Canada does not.

Trump was full of shit... and told you what you wanted to hear.  Just as Biden did for his base the other night.

That's ok last time it was minted was 1999, but some still in circulation once in awile.

Before that, there was the Eisenhower dollar. It was the large size, similar to the famous Morgan Liberty dollars that were minted from the late 1800's to the early 20th Century. Casinos loved real dollar coins -- until they figured out that people could easily forget monetary value with "credits" charged to an unseen virtual electronic reality.

The Susan B. Anthony, however, was the size of a quarter and was constantly mistaken for it. Really stupid idea from the government, but it made the feminists happy. Soon, we will lose the nostalgic penny: it's not worth the copper it's minted on. But then, neither are the dollar bills worth the paper they are printed on.

I'm considering choosing between gold bullion and NATO rounds for our next US currency. I can't afford to invest in pecans, you see. 🐿️
