The Punk era railed against the establishment and brought anger as opposed to protest to the world of music. This made for very exciting music that genuinely came from the streets. Hip Hop is now being manipulated by music moguls who need white Americans to buy their records even though many of the lyrics are anti white middle class. Hip Hop (and Rap) is a genre that lives off original music that is then overlaid with a rap track beat and mostly violent words. Oh for proper protest music about proper issues.
