I am not sure who you are talking to but I was simply engaging in conversation. I don't expect anyone to believe of not believe based on what I say or don't say. Everyone has to find their own truth. I am in fact very careful not to post on social media things that belittle someone else's faith. Having said that, I have no problem expressing my own thoughts. The only caveat to that is when I see people trying to pervert our secular Republic by trying to make or interpret our laws based on religious principals. Then I bark.

I think that sometimes it depends on the level of belief and belief in what. I am not going to lie. I have a very difficult time taking anyone who believes the bible is an actual history of human events seriously.

Hawking holds the post once held by Newton himself and is most likely the most brilliant physicist alive. People like myself value science and logic. That makes religious belief impossible.

I actually prefer Stephen Hawking or Neil Degrasse Tyson. With more information, contemporary atheists.

I think having a knowledge of history and a moral compass that fathoms right from wrong makes a person strong and of good character. It is not unusual for people to object to symbols of hatred and racism. It IS fascinating that you have seen fit to pick up the mantle and defend this symbol. Calling people pussies because they don't share you view on this makes you seem foolish.

Please do not think me to be sarcastic when I say that perhaps a few minutes of web research on the topic might be enlightening, Women staying with abusive men is very common and I agree, totally frustrating.

There are a variety of well known, and well documented reasons that women stay with abusive men. In this case we have almost no way to understand which of these may be the case with Paul and Leora in the absence translations for many of their conversations. The statement that she deserves anything that happens is nonsense. No one deserves to be abused, no matter what the situation.
